So I am coming down to Asheville for a wedding over Memorial Day weekend (5/24-28/12). I plan on getting beer to bring back at Bruisin Ales and Appalachian Vitner, and trying to visit as many breweries and beer bars as I can.
If anyone would like to do some trading message me. I have access to a lot of beers nationwide as well as locals (3 Floyds, Half Acre, Pipeworks, etc.).

I'll probably miss you by just a bit (traveling there with the family over part of my summer break). Granted I'm Chicago area based also, but I grew up near(ish) to there. Have fun, check out Biltmore if you get a chance.

Have heard Biltmore is worth the entry fee. I am sure the wife would enjoy some time away from the bars.

Aside from the actual Beer City Festival, I'm not so sure anything that cool will be going on. Barleys might do a little something I suppose, but I think the whole "Beer Week" thing is just an excuse to print a ton of posters and flyers and shit.
You'll get mixed reviews on whether the Biltmore Estate is worth checking out. It's pricey-like $60 or something, but my take on it is that the tour of the house is very cool if you're into historical houses/palaces/architecture. The detail put into every inch of the place is mindblowing...IF you like that type of thing. I love it but many I know would feel like it was a waste of time.

I like historical and architectural sites, but not for $60. If it's $10 or so I would do it. I know there is a Rogue and 21st amendment night Thursday and Friday respectively. But, doesn't seem like a lot Saturday or Sunday? Obviously, Chicago Craft Beer Week is not in it's first year and a larger population, but there's about 10-15 events every day during it.

I'll be in Asheville June 15/16, actually I'm staying in Hot Springs where I found a great secluded cabin and will suffer a little drive. I also heard Waynesville has a bunch of great restaurants that we'll check out on Sat night. We'll spend Fri in Asheville hitting a few bars and find some music.

There is nothing like Biltmore in the entire country. Imagine Bill Gate's house, but built in 1889. It is really mindblowing concidering when it was built. Buy your tickets a week in advance and save $15.

    Just a thought...

You would be much more pleased in bottle shops if you made the additional 1 hour drive down to Greenville to The Greenville Beer Exchange... They have a ton more options than Bruisin' Ales and growlers to boot.

Visit the LAB for dinner and beers, Craggie, Jack of the Wood-Greenman, and Pisgah are all worth visiting as well.

Appalachin Vintners has free and plenty of parking + an amazing tap list. Plan on spending more time and $ there.

It's worth it, but you have to go straight to the winery and drink as many free samples as possible to make up the difference.

They list Russian River on their web site. Do they carry this regularly?

Hmmmm. Wonder why they list it under breweries? Didn't see RR on the distribution google doc so it surprised me. Oh well.

    Thanks

I've never actually asked them about it, but definitely worth a stop. Great guys, and a nice new place. I think they are doing an Allagash tasting that Tuesday, but I'm not 100% on that date.
