I'm totally with you on this. Unless I have another reason to go, it's just not worth it. I went to Vermont this summer. Was it all about the beer? Nope. I got a ton of a good beer, sure, but I made sure I did other stuff too, to make it worth my time and money, like going hiking (one of those hikes being climbing to the summit of Mt. Mansfield!), seeing an old college friend, and seeing some waterfalls. Doing all of that plus getting some good beer totally made it worth my time and made it a very memorable trip!

Same here except a different outcome , just got back from SF with the wifey, my ulterior motive was to go to RR... so on Saturday we drove the 60 miles or so up north to Santa Rosa only to find lines going around the block and people coming out with cases of beer. We couldn't even get in the building and weren't prepared to wait in line for hours. Oh well, Marin Brewing company was nice consolation prize!

Not to mention the two hour line in the freezing cold.

Yea, Kane is in Ocean, NJ. And although they don't really bottle, most places around me (Central Jersey) have Kane on tap.

No, but if I'm in the area I make sure to try and stop by at least 3 or 4 different breweries during my trip.

It wouldn't be "just" to try beer, but beer would be a huge impact to visiting places like Ashville, San Diego, Portland, Germany, England, etc. But the beer would be a huge factor to me visiting!

Last time I visited SF I did the same thing...headed north. I first stopped at the Lagunitas brewery and tipped a few. Then continued north to Santa Rosa for RR. I ended up waiting about an hour but got in and had dinner and some Plinys. I'm going back in two weeks.

My Girlfriend and I are this weekend. Hitting a few different breweries and beer bars in and around Portland, ME for my birthday. I'm on the hunt for Allagash coolships, Maine Beer Co Lunch on draft, In'finity Distilling and Fermentation, and who knows what bottle shops we'll stumble upon.

    Suggestions anyone?

A few of my buddies and I are doing this in August of this year to celebrate a buddies 40th birthday. We're going to Denver for 6 days/5 nights and while we're there we're planning on taking tours of the Fort Collins breweries (New Belgium, Ft Collins Brewery, Equinox Brewing & Odell's) on a Saturday and the next day, we're taking tours of the breweries in Boulder and Longmont (Avery Brewing, Fate, Oskar Blues & Left Hand). While in Denver we're definitely going to hit up Great Divide, Wynkoop, and Breckinridge Ballpark pub, and probably hit up River North, Strange Brewing, and Prost Brewing. Gonna be epic!!

I would like to take a trip to Delaware to check out Dogfish Head but it's hard enough to convince the wife to make the 2.5 hour trek to go to Founders.

I have family in Dallas, but we all know my real reason for going to see them is to visit Jester King.

I decided to train for a 10k and take my Family to Rehoboth Beach for the Dogfish Dash....just because I really wanted to try 75 Minute out of a cask!

    worth it.
