Thanks for the heads up. If I was in the area, I'd stop in for one for sure. It's a solid, enjoyable brew. Doesn't it live up to the hype as one of the top tier BA stouts? In my opinion, no, but it's above average.

Anyone know if its still available? Friday night, I cannot imagine it is, but I would head over if it is.

I tried calling about 5 times and it keeps going to a full voicemail box.

** Finally got through, and its still on tap

12 dollars/goblet... I thought it was good. $12 good? Meh.

Well I am siting here enjoying a Black Note for the first time. It's delicious but imo BCBS is better and easier to get. I will drink 2 glasses and it is awesome but I probably won't seek it out too much when I can get BCBS yearly. Glad to have it on tap

I don't always get drunk when I drink, but between 2 (10oz?) pours of Black Note, and finding a place with Plead the 5th on tap nearby, I am still feeling it this morning.

Totally agree with both of you. I've tried it, and I doubt I'd pay anywhere near that for a pour in the future. Why bother with so many BA stouts that are so much better. Solid brew, but it is what it is: a BA blend of Expedition & Double Cream Stout. I frankly am not crazy about Double Cream Stout, but Expedition is a great brew. The barrel adds some interesting character, but I'd rather drink Expedition Stout. BA Expedition...now we're talking!

I couldn't agree more. Simply a beer that has been left in the dust by it's competitors. I had it on tap at Hackney's a few months back, and they also had some '09 Expedition Stout on tap....which blew the Black Note out of the water.

I think at this stage of the game, it's obvious that there are few Impy stouts that are better than an aged Expedition stout. My last go around with Black Note, I felt the same way. Just didn't have the depth and character that some of the others do, BCBS, Older Viscosity, etc...

Yes Aged Expedition is amazing. Fresh Expedition....now that's another story.

Went to see my cousin's band "I killed everyone" open up for "oceano" tonight and was quite happy drinking daisy cutter and being able to top it off with a goblet of black note. I had it at fowbab where it was alright, at the kbs release out of a bottle where it was really good, and then again tonight on tap tonight where I thought it was excellent.

Each time I had the beer I was with good people and having a great time. I do not know why my enjoyment has varied.

Maybe about a month to a month and a half ago Fountainhead had a Dark Horse Night. For at least three days afterward they had Plead the 5th, BA Plead the 5th, and Shake Imperial Maple Porter on tap. Now that was amazing...not to mention bigger pours for less than $12. Everyone one of these brews blew Black Note out of the water.

I go by maproom all the time to and from work, but I won't accept a free bottle. I will get it next time its bottled for sure, and thanks a ton for the offer!
