Oh you're a chump then, don't you know you're supposed to "win" at craft beer. And you can only win if you get stuff other people can't.

I love the beer store near me because no one knows it's really there. Kind of hidden across the street from a Home Depot. They are always stocked with good stuff.

Nope, I tell anyone I talk beer with about what shops I like. I'm not that high end of a consumer, and generally don't spend more than $30 at a time, so I miss out on a lot of great limited release beer, but I want to share the love and hopefully they'll find something they want and become a new customer. That way, the stores that sell great beer get to stay in business.

i am seeing a lot of wine stores creating space for craft beer and the selections are getting better

ie stores with names like "wine club" or similar that may be overlooked just because of the name

I work in San Antonio sometimes and while this isn't a bottle shop, you should check out BIG HOPs Growler Station it's on Broadway near the airport. The guys that work there are knowledgeable about what they sell and they've got some good stuff, mostly Texas beers.

I walked into mine yesterday with 2 cases of Abyss and 2 cases of BCBS sitting on the shelves.

Manager and I talked about how it was cool that we don't have to sweat anyone knowing about it.

had one for about 2 hours on Friday. BCBS was released here in Oregon. This little place barely knew what they were holding on to and a buddy of mine was able to score 10 bottles for the two of us. 1 hour later, one of the marquee beer shops threw out a tweet that this little spot had some bottles.....boom goes the dynamite. The store quickly had to implement bottle limits and were sold out in an hour.

The suburbs. Based on my findings people in the burbs don't buy a lot of good beer so I can usually find stuff a few weeks after its release.

I don't have a secret beer spot, but I do have a small package store where I am appear to be the only customer that drinks Dirtwolf. I'll take that until it becomes more regularly available.

I don't have one. I have a handful of stores that get surprised by a few randoms throughout the year, but don't get a bunch of the regular releases that people always want.

If I had a secret store, I'd tell my friends, and then it wouldn't be a secret. It's beer, share.

I guess ill advocate to the uninitiated. Maybe point them in the right direction and welcome them to the world of craft beer. But I'm not advising any of the seasoned veterans or those who should know better, about a great beer spot.
Personally, I'm sick and tired of going out of my way to get good beer that used to sit on the shelves not even 4 years ago. Even soccer moms driving around in minivans are privy to zombie dust and BCBS nowadays.
