I went to the store where they had Brett Beer (New Belgium/Lost Abbey) and Brux. I went to grab Brux, and the workers told me to grab Brett Beer.

    1) It's not a home run, it's not an A+, it's exactly what they are marketing it as, a "domesticated" (read: subtle, not too complex and not trying to be) "wild ale."
    2) It's a solid beer (do we expect anything less from SN?) with a little funk (do we expect anything less from RR?)
    3) It's a great drink in hot weather and a change up from the usual summer suspects (lagers, ipas, etc.)
    4) It is similar but very much better than the LA New Belgium brett beer, though I thought that was a nice little summer offering as well.

edit: 5) Drink now and later!

It's pretty good, not worth the money IMO. Tasted like a saison with with a tiny bit of Brett but I got another to let sit for a while.

I passed because I just dropped over $40 a few days ago on Cascade Sang Noir and The Vine. I did read the label and really liked the line, something like, "This is the liquid manifestation of change over time." I'm a history teacher, and probably the most concise definition of history is "change over time." So I got a kick out of that. Will be at Russian River on Monday. Do they have more kegs?

I actually picked up a couple of bottles at the Costco in SF. I don't think it's going to make anyone's list of all time great funky beers, but I thought it was a solid effort. If you're in the mood for a subtler Brett experience, you could do a lot worse.

Like some other posters, I'll be curious to see how it ages.

Hey guys. I'm still holding onto two bottles. Anyone crack this open after a year or longer and have any comments on how it aged over that time?

Also, how many times was Brux bottled?

I opened one in May, and it was awful, tasted like soap, sorry to say.

BRUX was only bottled once.I actually think it has improved quite nicely in the bottle. I spoke at a beer dinner a few weeks back and BRUX was one of the pairings. It's super dry and the Brett is a lot more apparent than at first bottling.

Interesting. Just cracked one a month ago and thought it was better than ever. Really coming into the own, as SNB said, it's drying out nicely and the Brett is super mango and peach forward.

It's a bit overcarbed, based on bottle opened a few weeks ago, still quite nice brett flavor to me.

I lucked up and bought a case at cost on Sunday. My local store could not move them so they dropped them $4 per btl. I cracked one open and thought it was doing well.

Yeah, great find, I would have snapped it up too!

I still have two bottles in my cellar, I'm glad to hear most are saying the brett is starting to come out more.....that's exactly what I was hoping for. Sounds like I'll be opening one up for Christmas.

I had one and definitely not my style of beer.. I guess I will age the other for a year or two to see what happens

I received one of these as a gift about a year ago. Based on reviews, I probably will not seek another, but wondering how long to wait before finally trying it. Another year, maybe? More? Less?

I've had it 4 times since it came out. The last time being just a few months ago and I can say that one was very tasty, and yes the Brett is really coming through.
