Fresh sticky nugs is long gone. It would be a mere shell of its former self at this point anyways. Danktoberfest, The Gimp, and Some Strange, which just landed btw, are all still in the cooler at the local shop. Snag a strange if you can.

This year is the first year for the new Gubna formula and the newest batch hasn't hit CT yet. It will be in by the end of the month.

Well, it sounds like you're in for quite a surprise when you start that brewery job then.

Inspired by this thread, I had a fresh Hoptimum last night and got not even a hint of dankness...

So last Friday I had an Enjoy By 12-13-13 (had to wait for the last day!) and it was beautiful. I've just recently been actually enjoying IPA's as it evidently just took me a long time (about 8 years) for my tastes to evolve around to them. Now I'm in love!

Anyway, the Enjoy By had a super dank taste/mouthfeel that I really hadn't experienced before but I loved it! What other readily available IPA's should have this same characteristic? Is it a specific type of hops that caused this? In the hops world, so far I've enjoyed: Lagunitas Brown Shugga and IPA, SN Celebration and Torpedo (torpedo was a little bitter for me), New Belgium Accumulation and Ranger (Ranger a bit too bitter), Schlafly TIPA (a little too fruity but still great), Hop Czar...probably a few I'm forgetting..

Also as a side note, are any of the Sam Adams Hop Tour 6pk worth trying? My philosophy has always been any beer is worth trying once but I'm narrowing down on things that I really like.

Thanks in advance for any advice - this place has been a great source of info for me and I hop to stick around for a while.

BTW: anyone know if I can change my username to MoHoppes4Me? I've always been convinced I didn't like hoppy beers..... so strange...

I also observed a little bit of that dank, "swampy" hop character in my Celebration Ale last night. It's also really prevalent in Flying Dog's The Truth, particularly on the nose.

Edit: Uinta's Dubhe might be the best example of this. I've always said it's like lliquid marijuana.

Three Floyds makes some dank IPAs. Check out Dreadnaught and Broo Doo. Sixpoint Resin and Stone Ruination are good too. Also I would skip out on the Sam Adams 6 pack, you will be very underwhelmed if you are using the other beers you have tried as bench marks.
