I've only ever tried one kind of Kolsch but, I disliked it so much that I'm scared to try another.

IPA's, I'm sorry but I just can't do it. I have tried some highly rated ones but still can't get over the taste. So now for me those three little letters are the kiss of death when choosing a beer. When doing a flight with an IPA, after taking a sip I am always trying to find a dark beer to wash away the taste.

    Commence with the hate.

    IPAs are like whiskey...

You make a face at first...

But after a while they taste like liquid candy (er, if candy tasted like pine/citrus... you get my drift).

I'll try anything, but haven't been a big fan of overly funky or too sweet beers.

to each their own man...but I agree with Tony, liquid gold...if you didn't like it I would give up on sour stouts...it's prolly just not your thing

Any Pale Ale. IPA, APA,TIPA, BPA, DIPA, *PA, #PA any ....PA. Just do not like that fresh off the vine Hopped beer. I prefer aged and dried hopped beer better.

I have been reading this thread out of curiosity since it opened and thought that I might weigh in a different way. I like and dislike certain beers within every style, but I appreciate when a beer is exactly what it says it is.
I had a Victory Red Thunder last night, and honestly, I didn't like it much at all. BUT I knew going in I wasn't a huge fan of red wine to begin with...it's okay, but not my thing. The point that I'm trying to make is that beer was exactly what it said it was. I appreciate when they stay true to the style that they are making, even if it isn't my thing.

Of course AALs and malt liquor. After that, I'd say wits and hefes - too bland for me.

Sours and Lambics. And not a fan of barrel-aged stuff either. I like beer that tastes like beer , not beer that tastes like whiskey.

I don't get too excited about brown ales or American wheat beers, but the only style of beer I have found so far which I seem to actively dislike is Belgian witbiers. Blue Moon is actually my favorite take on the style for the simple fact that it's such a poor imitation of one (it just tastes like orange-flavored candy to me).

Because Victory Headwaters and Oskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale are delicious hop forward beers that are not quite ipas when your not in the mood for a hop bomb.

Literally the only two styles I can't stand to drink are Oktoberfests and Smoked Beers. The only Marzen I've ever actually enjoyed was Great Divide's Hoss but I'm convinced that the only reason I liked it is because it was brewed with rye malt. I've never had a smoked beer that I truly enjoyed.

Euro Pale Lager, American Adjunct Lager, Czech and German Pils. Also American Amber/Red.

If I find myself somewhere that only has Heineken, Budweiser, Pilsner Urquell, Beck's, and Yuengling I'll drink water (or bourbon).

I used to dislike most Belgians and sours but they grew on me.

Nowadays the only things I really can't stand are Imperial Pilsners and Weizenbocks. I think in both cases they take a flavor that I can tolerate in smaller doses - the Hallertau hops for Pilsners and the banana/clove flavors in wheat beer - and amp them up to levels that I can't stand.

Generally I really prefer Pilsners brewed with Saaz hops rather than Hallertau.

I wouldn't outright tell people that they MUST have the sour sisters you mention, but if you have a few dollars to "spare", try grabbing another of them and letting it sit for a year or two. My girlfriend *cannot* stand a Sophie when its fresh, but hand her a glass that's from a 2 year aged bottle and it's a totally different beast. From my small sample size of the sisters, they seem to "calm down" down on the tartness a bit if they have a chance to mature for awhile.
