Has anyone just thrown the 6-pack how it comes into your luggage? The case I got has cardboard in-between each bottle and it seems pretty safe to me. I'm asking because I'm filled to the max in my suitcase. Feel free to troll, i'm not sure how you can find a reason to threadshit here but where there's a will there's a way! :grinning:

How will your luggage be traveling?

Your Mom throws 6-packs of Cantillon in her luggage.

Edit: seriously though, you will probably be fine. If your suitcase is just full of clothes I would recommend putting each bottle in a plastic bag and arrange them in your suitcase loose. Either method, make sure to bag 'em.

Wrap each bottle in a piece of clothing instead of jamming the 6 pack in there. It will actually fit better than the 6 pack would. Bag it if there is anything you care about. Make sure the neck is protected since it is usually the weakest link. It should be fine, i have done it tons of times and have only had caged and corked bottles leak a small amount occasionally. The Cantillons should be fine with the cap. Bring more home!

Wrap it all up. I did this trip before this past July and I would recommend wrapping the crap out of each individual bottle. Don't worry about the box, though I still packed it up with Westy 12's and bought it home in my wife's checked backpack.

Ok so I'm going to follow everyone's wise advice and take them out of their box and wrap them up individually. I'm gonna aim to fit 3-4 more bottles in there too. Thanks for the responses!

It will be traveling to England and then to Seattle in a checked bag.

I'd pack it the same way I pack for shipping. Tape the caps tight (even if it's capped and corked), plastic bag like Ziploc or small sturdy trash bag around each, then bubble wrap. Lace them between you clothes. I think it's better to bring less and have them wrapped well than bring a lot that are not well packed.

I had a 6 bottle case of Fou last year that I just put in the middle of my suitcase and it made it back to Seattle safe and sound. That said unpacking and wrapping each is the uber safe way to go and you will be fine either way. I also packed a plastic beer crate they have at the grocery stores in a self made box with clothes and wrapping around each bottle and above and below the crate. Checked it as a piece of luggage and every one of the beers made it home safe without breakage or leaking. Safe travels!

Done it. Arrived intact. And surprisingly I've had those same boxes arrive on my front porch with nothing but a Fed Ex label attached to them. No broken bottles....yet.

I only brought 7 bottles because I was worried I would be overweight. Sadly I had 3 kilos to spare!! :slight_frown:

A bit off topic but does Cantillon limit the amount you can purchase on a given day?

Assume: the TSA will unwrap your bottles to inspect.
Do Not Assume: the TSA will wrap your bottles back up the way you did.

I would personally leave them in the box. Since the box had an insert and clear places for each bottle, the chance of the TSA getting the bottles back in the box correctly is far greater than the chance they'll re-wrap all of your bottles. Plus in a Cantillon box, clearly meant for holding bottles, there's less of a chance they'll rip apart your entire bag. Squirrel away bottles throughout your bag carefully taped and bubble-wrapped though... Assume your entire bag will be carefully searched. Then contents tossed back into the bag with little care.
