Life is too short to intentionally buy something you think you may not like.

the cheap beers I buy, I buy solely for the purpose of misdirection. Randoms looking for a beer open the fridge and see PBR, BMC, etc... and either grab one or don't. No further venturing into the garage to see if I have another fridge. Keeps my beers safe while I'm home or away.

I've been tempted, but I haven't caved yet. I will say that the 2 beers that automatically popped into mind upon reading this post were
    1) pizza beer
    2) voodoo maple donut
Funny those were also some of first 2 discussed.

I HAVE purchased marginally rated odd beers (blueberry, other berry flavors). But not one with a "reputation" as of yet.

I try every Shipyard beer at least once so yeah I guess I do. :flushed:

I bought the pizza beer too a few months back. Curiosity, ya know? It was awful

I find the BA ratings of "poor" to be highly reliable so I stay away from those.

I swear to God, the Recent Beer Talk threads are constantly reading my mind. I literally just got done reviewing a Schlitz tall boy because there's a burger joint around the corner from my house that sells them and I wanted to tick it without buying a whole pack. Stop stalking me BAs!

Cave Creek Chili Beer has been on my "wants" list since 2008. I don't think it will be as bad as people say it is. Sam Adams Triple Bock wasn't bad.

I don't buy beers that I know are bad- but I bought a few experimental beers from shorts lineup that sounded interesting-not sure what I was thinking there.

Cave Creek was way ahead of its time, time has caught up, and it's a lovely novelty lagerish beer with a pepper in it, but it was always strange. That beer would sell no matter what. Now, there are some great chili beers, or interesting beers with peppers, that are quite good. Indra Kunindra? For those of us that like some heat/spice, peppers work well with "bigger" beers. Cheers.

I'd buy a Bud-Light Chelada just for kicks if I wasn't allergic to shellfish.

There is one legendary horrible beer that I would buy if the chance happened... S.A.Triple Bock. Because I do have a certain amount of self loathing which I believe any healthy person has.

My thoughts exactly. Whenever we have a party, I buy some beer for people who don't really like beer - or don't really like real beer, anyway. Usually Stella Artois, or Corona. Because at least I can drink the leftover Corona when I feel like a limeade.

I will if it has some kind of novelty attached to it. Sometimes a beer might rate how someone feels about a beer and not how good the beer actually is so I don't go by that.

Sometimes. I have a ticker's mentality and it doesn't stop with good beer.
