several years of purchasing rouge voodoo doughnut come to mind. something about the terrible pink bottle and the thought of bacon makes me keep trying it. cracked one at a poker game last year for shits and giggles and we all had a small pour, then it sat on the counter waiting to be drainpoured until the end of the night.

I wish I could thumbs down those PBR comments. I hope to never taste that stuff again.

My roommate made a cooler full of "pink panty droppers" (for a party) which consisted of PBR, vodka, and pink lemonade. Needless to say it didn't drop mine.

I've been wanting to buy O'Douls just to try it - it's such a mystery / more so than some craft beers I've never tried

I didn't see anyone mention it yet, but I do this all the time at beer fests.

There's always at least one beer with some crazy description like "made with 50 lbs of tic-tacs" that everyone says is a train-wreck, but you just have to try it for yourself.

A couple weeks ago,I ran into a closeout on 2010 Arcadia Ale Imperial Stout for $2.94 a 4 pack, a whole cooler full. Pulled up BA on my cell phone and saw first rating of less than 2, so I only got two thinking even if it stinks I still really like the style. Later saw a 2010 4 pack at another store for $13 a 4pack. Went back to BA to relook at overall rating of almost 4! By the time I figured out what I really had ,(previous gold medal winner) it was all gone!! I was major bummed! Learned a big lesson!

Don't. Just don't. If you really want to know how bad it is, take a Keystone Light and an ounce of Tabasco.

No but a bad beer can teach you as much as a good beer and give you some solid experience in off flavors that you usually do not find in most beers.

I bought the pizza beer myself last month. Its still sitting in the fridge, waiting for me to get my courage up. But its so infamous around here, I couldn't pass it up...

Until recently a bar in Belgium was actually selling that one. I always was slightly curious & always wondered why they had it. It was like 30 € & I never inquired (I didn’t want to spoil a good mystery). Not sure if they still have it. Them having it always seemed truly bizarre to me.

Festivals don't count... you aren't paying just for that beer, so you aren't "buying" bad beer on purpose
    Sounds awesome

I bought a pale ale 3 months past it's best buy date because it iwas 50 cents and I wanted to drink it next to a fresher one for science.

Except for when it's my turn to buy beer for softball*, I generally don't buy intentionally "bad" beer. I buy stuff that I'm not sure I'll like because it sounds very experimental and could be fun (Bacon Maple Doughnut). That's how I got Wells Banana Bread and found out it was wonderful.

*After the last softball game where I split the beer between a Bud and Finnegans and saw how popular the Finnegans was with the non craft drinking crowd, I'll just stick with Finnegans. It's not to my taste, but at least I feel okay buying it.

I tried flying dog k9 last night to see why it had such low ratings, it was an awful beer. So yes, I do it, but I won't be doing it for much longer.

I do not try a beer just to see if its as bad as everyone says it is if that's what you are asking.
I generally not be dissuaded by low reviews on here though.
