What I was going to say. In my town there's plenty of activities and festivals along the river, when we're kayaking and hiking or hopping rocks on the bank -- a public area which doesn't prohibit bottles necessarily the way beaches do, but -- still cans are more portable and we've discovered what others mentioned, that there are many fine varieties available in the can whose flavor isn't compromised. Or outdoor festivals for bringing your own picnic, as another example when (for me) the beer isn't the point or the destination, but it's a vital accompaniment to the focal activity. Certainly it's worth my while to make use of a glass where it's available, and recently I've begun noticing when others in my company opt for "a vessel" (a Hash House Harrier's word for it) or not.

One beer I reviewed recently I should have paused to consider whether my mistake was that I drank it from the bottle at the restaurant where it was served. I kept experiencing a chalky aftertaste and did not order another (Troegs' Hopback -- haha it is overall ranked "Outstanding"! whereas I marked it much lower). I'm not sure why I didn't ask for a glass!? This is one reason I aim to use a glass as opportunity affords.

That is like dividing by zero..... the more you think about it the harder it hurts lol. I have had both.

Just like the guy pictured on the can is drinking from a glass.... I feel like this could be a chicken or egg discussion

I drink from the can quite a bit, exceptions are porters an stouts.

Agreed, I don't think I could do a stout from bottle or can.

I never understood this logic. Clearly if people can live with Heady in a can they could surely be able to drink stuff, at least other IPAs, from cans as well. But you'd be hard-pressed to find people who used that type of common sense I suppose.
Personally I'm more likely to drink something from a can than a bottle, but I also pour my Headys into a glass more often than not.

I just read your review, and it sounds a whole lot like my experience with drinking beer out of the bottle. I just can't stand hops in a bottle, but I love hoppy beers out of the can. It just drinks like juice. You should grab some hoppy beers out of a can. Dales Pale Ale is my favorite. I also like pilsners out of a can too. I couldn't tell you why, but they beat the heck out of the bottle.

Also, don't worry about how everyone else reviews a beer when you are, they are all probably wrong.

I think it has to do with the shape difference of a bottle and can; with the can being flat with the opening you take a swig and your nose is right there near the opening (thus more aromas). When out of the bottle, your nose is further away from the opening. That's my logic and as such, if I have to drink from the container and not glass, I prefer a can.

Freezing your glass... that's the real "no-no".

Never had it. Got into stouts thanks to Guinness, which I did have from bottle/can a time or two.

Not sure if sarcastic, or takes beer too seriously...

Again I understand the advantages, but as others have said, sometimes a beer is just a beer.

In fact, a beer is USUALLY just a beer.

I've thought about that, but I'm not sure if it's also just the selection of beers I've had out of a can. I might just be drinking citrusy, aromatic IPAs out of a can, and I might just be drinking spicy, bitter IPAs out of the bottle. It may all just be an illusion!

It also has the widget in the can, and it isn't half bad (unlike the red ale). I'd recommend it, either out of the can or out of a glass.

Geze louise, with the way I'm talking on this thread, you'd think I never used a glass. I actually use a glass 99.9999999999999999% of the time.

The only time I don't use a glass is when I drink from a can because glass is not a good idea or is prohibited. And from the can is way better than plastic cups IMHO. If I'm going to a family member or neighbor's house and I'm not sure if they have good beer clean glasses, I'll bring my own. Rude? Not anymore. They all expect it from me. At this point, it would be rude not to bring my own glass [and beer].
