I have a '94 Sam Adams triple bock. Should i keep aging it or drink it. Its extremely tempting, but i cant decide. I know that it is pretty much a Port and might continue aging well. any thoughts?

Drink it and report your findings here for future reference. Be the guinea pig!

[insert obligatory soy sauce joke here]

I'm one of the few people who like this beer, but the last time I opened one the cork was just about shot. Caught it just in time. So, I suggest drinking up.

[insert obligatory that stuff is awful; send it to me for proper disposal joke here]

I have four of these and will be opening one over the holidays and will report back. For future storage, keep them on their side as you would a bottle of wine to keep the cork from drying out.

It's not horrible. But I'd wait til you have someone to share it with...or 4 people.

Absolutely do not do this. The cork is soft, it'll just leak.

Agreed. The three I've seen have all leaked with just transporting, setting them on their side ensures you'll have an empty bottle later. Which really wouldn't hurt, as my experience with drinking one is like the worst nightmare ever. My hands were stained for three days when some of it got on me. Seriously.

Ya it says somewheres on the SA website that the corks were mistakenly used as they are constructed only as temp stoppers by the mfr. SA says to keep the triple bocks upright.

Opened a '95 at a bottle share...cork was fine, but the stuff inside was just awful. Tasted like rancid soy sauce, if there is such a thing.

I have another '95 and a '97 that I will open and try as well, but I would not expect much, unless you need to lose weight from all the puking you will do after drinking this.

Just keep it to look at. Both of the ones I've had leaked. Tried the '94 in back in '98, I still remember how nasty it was. Still have the '95.[IMG]

Maybe your problem was with transport....from the original case I bought, continually kept on their side, in 20 years, never a leak.
