Back to the beer for a second...can anyone verify that the 2012 BB4D was aged for two years in the barrel? There were rumors floating around in the tent this morning.

These breweries should all take a page out of Bells book. Silent releases of their specialty beers and if you happen to be there you can get some. No chaos, no lines, no FIBs, locals who actually go to the breweries more than once a year will have a better chance to get bottles and everyone can enjoy the party for the party. It seems like a win win to me.

    anybody know what #?
& the problem w/ silent releases is that it precludes people who work normal jobs & live 20 min away & cant live @ the beer store, plus kuhnhenn has no distro.

Anyone know if you can pick up orders later in the week like Dark Horse did for 4 Elf?

I don't really understand what you mean. What does distro have to do with silently selling sought after beers at your brewery?

They are at number 150ish, and will hold your beer for several days if you are to here to pick it up

I have picked up my order the day after in the past. They will normally put something on FB about it. IIRC last year you had to get it by Sunday night. They sold whatever wasn't picked up starting Monday

Let's just take it a step further and say that only people who live in the same town as the brewery can go to specialty releases, and say screw the large amount of people who purchase their regular releases. Not like that pays for the ability to make the specialty releases or anything...

Even though I assume you are being sarcastic...Kuhnhenn only has very little distro and kegs only for the most part..most of their "regular releases" are pub only...so yea, maybe you are right...only allow local a who supports the brewery by going to the pub more than once a year come to the party...I guess.

My original point had nothing to do with the party, but the chaos that the beer releases bring. Keep the party and remove the chaos by releasing bottles another time without telling everyone.

The point is, this site is about beer advocacy. Not about limiting who can get what. Ultimately, we should want everyone to be able to get beers they want to try. Obviously, this is not possible logistically, but we probably shouldn't actively want to limit good beer to ourselves.

They're on 177 now. Most meads are gone.

when bells does silent releases the items last a week or so, your point is invalid.

They don't know if they will hold orders till tomorrow, they have been very slow, and there's no BBBW on. Not an awesome solstice party

Surprised at how organized and low key it was once everyone was inside. Very relaxed atmosphere, which was great. Only qualm was the speed of the order payment. I was #48 and I had my number called just after 11 am. Then again, that means they are boxing up one person every 2-3 minutes, which is totally reasonable if they don't have a ton of staff

The easy way is to have 2 options...full beer or full beer mead......have 100 boxes ready to go at the start of sale then people can come in after to get smaller orders
