Found all three variants Monmouth county yesterday. If you're from the area you will know where to call/look. Might be sold out by now but wanted to share the info.

Curious, is there an unwritten rule people follow to keep certain messages cryptic?

I notice some write which store they've seen a brew at. Some even post a photo. And then there are the ones like this quoted above.

Yeah I don't really understand it either. Who do they think they're helping by not saying?

I'm ok with the cryptic. Some areas are more of a mad house then others. Posting a specific store in the more central or northern areas of jersey prevents some of us from getting the chance to purchase the beer. On another beer forum someone posted that they knew a time and place of expected delivery and an individual who trolled the site walked in and basically bought the cases within an hour. I don't think it's anything worth pointing out and treating as if it's unsupportive of the community. NJ is the most densely populated state, GI didn't overload us like they did last year. Keeping it cryptic allows the people who regularly support local stores a chance to get what they helped the stores get by always purchasing there.

I'd prefer being vague as well. As seen in this thread people got on the parkway hit the LBI buyrite before locals got their beer. Chasing beer is soooooooo 2010 guys.

I just don't want those who hoard to abuse the info to scoop up all the rarities. If you're from the area then you will know where to look. It's about helping the locals. I don't want to have to drive all over the state for stuff when I can keep it local.

Are there any specific dates you guys hit stores? Or is this just all random, I see in CMC, such random items on a shelf one day, feel weird going back to the same store the next day and boom another rare beer that wasn't there the day before.

Also, many stores in CMC, you have to ask. Like today, I was asked what are you looking for, ran through a list of 3-4 beers, the guy went to the back and pulled 2 of them. I asked what else do you have, he said tell me and Ill tell you. Feel like I should just carry a print out.

My one friend close to philly can't get some of the stuff that we had cases of in CMC, and yet he could get GI Sisters all day at total wine, while no one down the shore knew what I was talking about.

I don't understand though. It's not like posting the info gives an advantage to anyone. It's an equal playing field.

EDIT: And to be honest, if you're going to be mad at anyone, be mad at your store for selling 4 packs. I obviously wouldn't have made the drive for single bottles.

As far as dates go, its highly dependent on the store. Some places put stuff out when it comes in, some will hold limited stuff to release it at a specific time. I've seen both with the BCBS variants, one local store is holding theirs until Friday.

As for the sisters, where did you look? I've found at least one of the sisters at every store I've been to recently, and I'm in Ocean County. If you take a look at one of the pictures in this thread you can find out where to get one of them.

I drive around the state quite a bit for other activities so I tend not to be a strict local shopper here in Monmouth (other then Court Liquors) though I'll visit spots enough to know what they regularly offer. Even with that, I have no idea which stores would be the ones to receive these GI variants. But, I understand the sense of locals being able to buy these brews so can see where you can let on that they're available whilst still keeping hoarders and crazies at bay.

It's kind of like the old saying, "this is why we can't have nice things", with the thought of a beer truck chaser out there ready to pounce, then giving specific information is akin to a ***** with catnip......irresistible.

(Full disclosure: I've picked up my 2013 BC variants so happy hunting for everyone)

Spirits Crossroads is releasing the variants Friday (tomorrow) at 5pm.

Spirits Berkeley SHOULD be getting them tomorrow. They only get deliveries on fridays and do good GI business. Id call em if your in the area. They also have Backwoods bastard, some FW Double DBA, stone Suede, Victory Dirtwolf at 8.99, Maine Brewing Co. Moe and their vanilla stout whose name escapes me...

    Happy hunting!

Luckily with this release there's no trucks to chase. Unless they're gonna stalk reps from store to store which is crazy creepy.

See here in cape may , one store owner who had a few bcbs andvariants had no idea what Juliet was. He took my number and called me back saying it isn't released yet. This was 2 weeks ago while my friend was buying 2 bottles at total wine. Today at canals asked again if they got the sisters and the beer guy who was upset no one at the store saved him any bcbs coffee said they never got any.

The closest store to you that I'm familiar with is the Joe Canal's in EHT... I would be shocked if they didn't get the sisters in, I've found quite a few HTFs there. Otherwise, I could always give you a small guide to Ocean County stores if you want to travel. Can't guarantee you'll find Juliet though, I really don't remember which stores had what, and if any had Juliet, or what anybody has left.

Hey MadCat, I'd love a small guide to good places in Ocean County, if you wouldn't mind. I'll be there over the holidays visiting family in Bayville/Brick. Thanks in advance!
