This is a follow-up to a very fun and successful BIF I ran a few weeks ago. This is intended for true BIF noobs, meaning zero BIF experience. Ideally you should have a couple of trades under your belt, though I might take on a pure trade noob or two.

Size: This will be small. I did 12 last time, and I may go a few higher, but not much.

Beer: $20-$25 in true locals PLUS one "centerpiece" bottle. More below… (Plan $35 or so on beer)

Swag: 1 Glass. Pint is fine.

Number of bottles: No min/max, but stick within the costs and the goal is for a nice sampling of local beers. I'm envisioning something like 8-12 12oz bottles and two bombers, but it's completely up to you. Just hit the cost target and provide some nice variety.

What to Send: It's always great to knock off wants, but that's not really the point of this BIF. This is more about learning the ropes and sending nice locals. Some of you will likely be able to hit wants, and some of you won't - that's ok - don't stress about it. Just focus on your favorite local beers. It is nice to read your target's profile though and look at their past reviews to see if they have had something and liked (or disliked it), or some people just don't like certain styles and usually note it. Try to send beers not available to your target.

Centerpiece Bottle: This is a slight tweak to last time. The "centerpiece" bottle is pretty broadly defined, but think of a big bottle of something maybe limited, barrel aged, a tough to land want, etc, etc. We're certainly not talking about a white whale here, but one bottle that is a clear cut above the rest of the box in some fashion. A few examples: A Boulevard Smokestack, Firestone limited release, maybe KBSx2, a BCBS variant, some small local brewery release, a Cantillon/Fantome, etc. Nothing you sold your first born for, and I think nearly everyone can find something that fits this category at their local store. Any questions/concerns you can ask me and I'll tell you… Remember - you'll be getting one of these back too!

What not to Send: Sadly this does need to be said. Don't send somebody your stale old leftovers sitting in the back of the fridge. Don't send IPA's more than 3 months old. Don't send beers with crappy scores on BA. (A minimum score of 3.5/80 is a good general guideline) When in doubt, fresh is best, and send something you'd like to receive yourself.

Ship Date: By signing up you guarantee to ship by Tuesday, May 29th. (Day after memorial day) That will give you 3 weeks after getting a target - plenty of time! Nobody likes waiting for the last box, and by being in your first BIF you certainly don't want to get a rep for being the late guy (or gal). So if you want to sign up, plan on putting your best foot forward and shipping on time. If you can't make it there will be other BIFs.

Signup: Send me a private conversation with the following info:
    Name
    Address
    Email Address
    Phone Number

You are not in until you hear back from me.

That's it. My only other request is you participate. Once targets are assigned I'll startup a hints and hauls thread.

And PLEASE ask questions. Most problems can be taken care of easily before they happen with good communication. That's the point of this BIF - to get you out of it with full understanding of how BIF's work so you can move on to the larger BIF world.

    Cheers!

Still plenty of space here. I'm a little surprised - I was quickly bombarded way past capacity on the last one!

I'll give it another day or two for first-timers only, but if I don't fill I'll likely open it up to others.

We're getting there... a couple more spots still open. I'll get back to anyone who messaged me tomorrow when I have some more time...

Almost there - we have a good geographic variety, with a slight lean towards the northeast. I'd love to get a couple of more from the deep south, midwest, or west coast and then we're good to go!

If you're not full of east coast traders by now I'd love to join. Would be my first BIF.

I would love to join! I'm based out of Ohio but I travel often to other "Great Lake" states so I can represent this area pretty well. Never done a BIF so yes, I'm a noob, but I have decent experience with trades. Thanks for your time.

This. You will enjoy cbeer's BIF. He does a good job running things. You will also find some new trading partners! Be careful though, it's a gateway to a dangerous addiction!

Alright - we're closed up at 14. I should get targets out tomorrow.

If anyone else wants in on the next one, feel free to shoot me a message and I'll put you on "the list" to get first crack next time.
