I brew with all these newer hops and love them but seriously how about some love for East Kent Goldings, Saaz, and Hallertaur. You know hops that taste of subtlety, of Earth, of nuance, of beer rather than another tasty bowl of fruit?

I'll take Galaxy Pale ale over either personally but I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority.

Citra is #1, a lot of good #2 or #3 choices.

Troegs Scratch #126 is a Galaxy that I think tastes awesome ... not bottling it, but was available at brewery on tap and also in Maryland at a local taphouse so you might be able to find it in Ohio (not sure if Troegs - Hersey, PA distributes there)

Never had anything with nelson so out of the three I've got to go with citra. My favorite was a Thomas creek red casked with citra that was my first time having anything with it and it has been my favorite, until my next homebrew that is going to be using it.

Citra is virtually undetectable in Torpedo.

Schlafly TIPA is not hopped with Nelson Sauvin. It's hopped with Galaxy.

Double Sunshine is a blend of hops, sure, but the character is just about all Citra. If we're going to be pedantic about it, Alpine Nelson is a blend of hops too.

Interesting, I did not know that Nelson was a blend of hops...

Torn between Citra and Amarillo. Honorable mention to French Aramis via New Belgium Hop Kitchen FA.

Freetail Hopothesis G used a ton of wet Citra this year, and it was amazing (as was their wet Citra wit)
Real Ale 4 Squared is dry-hopped with Amarillo, and I drank about 20,000 of those this summer.

The vast majority of beers use a blend of hops. I think we can all agree that it's the late kettle and dry hopping that lends the most character to the beer. So within these blends, those used later will represent the dominant character. The hop freshness will also determine how much distinct character individual hops will lend to the beer. As they age they all tend to lean towards a grassier, earthier character and lose a bit of the distinct terroir they have fresh. Kind of like fresh kind bud over Mexican bunk weed. (Note: facts taken from memory files located under high school flashback reels.) :grimacing:

Mostly Nelson, of course. Also includes Southern Cross.

    I stand
I stand corrected. Guess it's the hops from that whole region I don't like. Well, I've always liked bands from down under: Men At Work, INXS,The Church, and Nick Cave.

Having a Bootleggers Far Out IPA right now and it's a really nice example of a Galaxy forward IPA. And I second the post earlier about NEBCO Galaxy Pale Ale being awesome.

While I haven't had enough single hop beers to have a particularly educated opinion here, I'd have to say Citra is my favorite, followed by Galaxy, followed by Mosaic.
