It was quite good. Secret: by the time they closed it had zero oats in it (heard from a brewer in the know). We have far too few stouts on tap nowadays...
I think the last time I had that stout in 2003 (Zoso was the name I think?) I don't know I had a reference for what "good" was and I'm certain I couldn't have picked out any oatmeal in the mouthfeel. I just remember it was much, much bolder than the other stouts I had tried like Guinness and Murphy's. For all I know Black Butte and SN Stout could have put it to shame even then. I think what drew me to it was the artwork. In those days I drank a lot of that stout, Fat Tire, and Tommyknocker Maple Brown... 2 of which I still like.
