Site Color Palette: Feedback Wanted

the gray on gray of the 'home' 'forums' 'members' 'help' header looks a bit dull/dim/dark. The text isn't terribly legible. Of course, I am not using the world's greatest monitor, but still.

 

One suggestion is to make the "New" flag on posts pop a bit more than the current gray. Maybe use gold for those.

Otherwise I think the new colors look good

 

Any chance we can customize this ourselves? That would be key. Lots of forums have preset color schemes you can use. Lets work on that!

May I ask why? At least make it black like the old forums.

 

Agreed, a little more contrast would be nice there. Also, the links on the right side of the same header (Inbox, Alerts, Log Out).

I also agree with that. The "New" tag should be eye-catching.

 

IMO, right now everything looks a little bit dull/dim/dark.

 

There seems to be a lot more white space on this new forum compared to the old one.

 

I think the darker grey around the profiles as well as the new flag would look better. i liked the darker feel of the old site. too much white for me. i think this has been brought up before, but did you rule out making the text white and the background black? or at least test how it looked?

 

The gray is an ok mix with the feel of the original black, however it's a little poor on some of the grey text in places as it causes the words to appear out of focus and fuzzy in places. Simple cool GUI standard colors in just a few places will help, but nothing too loud to cause eye strain.

 

This is a very minor suggestion, but I think the default color of links could be improved, so it's easier to see a link in the middle of a post.

Perhaps leave the buttons to have some color to them? That's how the old forum was. The links for reporting, replying, etc. were still blue and the "new" flag was yellow.

 

I think you guys will tinker on this a bit, as we watch things accent and pop, it will eventually all "click" it will get there.

 

I think it's an upgrade from the default scheme that's been in place. There is a lot of light gray all over the place. I'd personally like to see some more dark gray and black.
