Firestone XVII - Northern NJ

    With BCB fever beginning to dwindle thought I would share for the near Passaic County BA's that there is a case (less the one I took) of XVII sitting on the back wall floor at Wine Country on 46W in Clifton.

    If you've never had a FW anniversary brew, they are a real treat.

    Nice, if I was feeling better, I would make a run over there and grab a bottle. Did you happen to notice if they had any velvet merkin to go along with that XVII?

    How much was it?? Picked up some in Ocean county for $21.99. Seems like this beer is getting pretty expensive.

    $19.99 in Clifton. I saw 3-4 bottles left as of about 3:15 this afternoon btw.

    Stews is the worst. Hardly ever get any limited stuff and when they do, it's marked up like crazy. Didn't think anybody else went to wine country. That place is awesome cause nobody goes there for beer. I used to be able to get firestones anniversary 15th and 16th all year round.

    I remember when stews got breakfast stout in this year. Was selling it at like $18.

    It's still there. They tried breaking them into single bottles for $5.49. Shelves were clear for a while then 4 packs are back. I don't think one has been touched in a month.

    Lol Stews is a joke. FBS is $9.99 a 4 pack at my local store and they have 6+ cases.

    Wine Country is great for 4's / 6's but their bomber selection is riddled with crap that just sits there. Like you said, they had cases of XV sitting there for about 2 years which I am more okay with because of the abv and boxed packaging but I am rarely getting a bomber there. These days you get nervous when you see old Ommegang labels on shelves and they have quite a few. I get the impression that the distributor manages/chooses their inventory and unloads some real duds there. I live around the corner so I frequent often enough to see what changes or doesn't.

    Another note, Shop Rite Little Falls has A LOT of Gillian ($28.99), Halia ($21.99) and Juliette ($23.99). I didn't buck up but some may be seeking it.

    I was coming on here to post this. I passed. that's just too much of a mark-up. the guy said that it's because they have to do so much more to get it and actually said, "you know, we have to ask for it." whoa. I didn't realize how much went into acquiring it.

    I saw that 15 there, which sat forever. I went back, hoping it was still there, but apparently the place has been discovered. not much other unique stuff, unfortunately. though I did pick up a southampton abbot 12.

    Still around at Shop Rite Caldwell. A little pricey, but oh well. Snagged a 2nd bottle (1st came via trade) so I can start aging these bad boys.

    Stop by the leaf while in the area? Was there the other day and they had The Illinois, Lunch and Limbo all on tap. Needless to say but I stayed for all three.
