Track 84. I miss that place.

I also used to frequent the Avery in Providence. Great for a date night with the lady and they typically have several good craft taps.

Note: Most of this is focused in or around Providence
    Beers:
Foolproof Raincloud and Grey Sail Ale are my two favorites in this state.

    Places to get beer:
Scurvy Dog has been my favorite place to get my drink on for the past year.
The Avery is a nice place to grab a pint as well.
Julian's has great taps, the food is so-so. Louis Fuller's has awesome food, but not as good taps.
Harry's Burgers and Beer on North Main St. is solid as is The Ivy on Hope St.

Doherty's in Pawtucket has a huge selection and people who care about beer. Food is typical bar/grill stuff.

Track 84 has amazing taps if you like DIPAs/IPAs, Belgians and Imperial Stouts. If you don't like those, they are still great, just not as great. Their prices are the best in the state in my opinion.

    Bottle shops:
Nikki's in North Providence is still doing it right.

High Spirits on North Main St. has really stepped it up and is my go-to these days.

    Bottles is solid.

ENO downtown is doing some quality stuff too.

Take the drive to Yankee in Attleboro and you'll get lots of nice stuff as well.

I'm gonna have to check out all of them. Track 84, The Avery, and Scurvy Dog are at the top of my list now.

I think Grey Sail Flying Jenny is the best beer produced in the state. I've also grown quite fond of Larkin's Dry Irish Stout.

Buy as bottle or somewhere on tap?

Flying Jenny should be readily available in cans everywhere, growlers at the brewery, as well as on tap around the state...especially in South County. Larkins's is on tap at Doherty's Ale House and Trinity and perhaps others...

the grey sail you can buy in a can or growler at the brewery. I think the irish stout is only on tap. I liked foolproofs saison and grey sail has had some pretty good one offs as well.

I'd also like to add that they have been doing better with the beer selection at doherty's ale house and it's a bit of a more restaraunty place if youre taking the SO out. Stevie D's in cumberland is quickly becoming my stomping ground because of their good tap list and close vicinity to me.

I frequent Doherty's Ale House quite a bit because it is extremely family friendly...a place you can bring the toddlers and teach them beer advocacy.

Rhode Island Billiards and Bistro has 108 beers between bottles and taps and from their list they seem to have some good ones. Plus they give you a card to help you keep track of which ones you have tried.

Surprised no one has said The Malted Barley yet. Love that place. Last time I was there they had Firestone Walker 17 and Velvet Merkin on tap. Plus it's a minute away from Grey Sail.

That is because Westerly is not part of Rhode Island.

Ha, I was going to ask if it was because most people consider it CT. Still nice that they get beers distributed to them that CT doesn't!

Yea haha Westerly is very far like 45 minutes away.

I have recently moved down to Louisiana and miss Little Rhody and its (growing) beer scene. Some things I'd throw into the mix:

Foolproof's Revery is a fantastic imperial stout, I also love Raincloud and Backyahd is a decent everyday IPA. Their saison was already mentioned and I agree it is a good one.
I visited The Bucket Brewery (still draft only) over Christmas and would recommend getting down there (tours Saturdays) to try their Park Loop Porter and Maple Stout - good stuff!
Revival is pretty solid - love their Double Black IPA and their Imperial Stout as well as the previously mentioned Larkin's Stout.
Ravenous in Woonsocket makes a solid Coffee Milk Stout too and though not technically made in RI anymore, Gansett's new Coffee Milk Stout was tasty.

In terms of getting beer - I love me some Doherty's - East Ave is great, and the new Alehouse is even more extensive, but I prefer the food at East Ave. Sullivan's and Shannon View Inn (Warwick) are also owned by Doherty and have solid draft selections and pub grub.
One other place I'd throw in is Mews Tavern. Their food is decent and their 69 taps were much better when I visited over Christmas. They had stuff like Bourbon County Barleywine and some great IPAs.
I also suggest British Beer Company (the closest location in nearby Franklin, MA) as the food, atmosphere and beer selection are all great. The location in Bristol, RI is smaller without much of a food menu and a smaller beer list.

Man, I wish Louisiana had the beer scene Rhode Island has!

RI Billiards... so close to home and never tried it. Looks like only a billiards place, but 108 beers? Might have to get there
