Anyone who's been to the brewery in the past year has seen the Mezcal barrels. Jeff said it should be coming out soon. It's gonna be horrible. Don't buy any. Just let me have your allocation.

Is it black metal base? I was under the impression it was a Mad Meg similar base..

You are correct as far as I know. It's an amber color. That's just my name for it. Gotslandricka wasn't black metal and they used metal in the name still. I'm 100% sure this beer will have nothing to do with metal. That's just my nickname for it.

I understand there will be chiles involved. Ancho, I think.

Ill name some, maybe it'll come back to you.

Guajillo, mulato, pasilla, cascabel. Hopefully nothing hotter than ancho. My guess would be guajillo. They have great color and fruity flavor.

It might have pasilla. It started with a p. The peppers have faded in heat but still lend a slightly vegetable note like bell peppers to the mezcal presence. Tastes like a margarita. Lol

Hopefully jester king doesn't mind me talking about this since the barrels aren't hidden and it's close to release.

I was told it was made for a Chicago retailer, no idea which, or what type. Heard it on the tour a a couple weekends ago.

In February, 2013, we sent a high gravity wort brewed with a fair amount of caramel malt, ancho chilies, and epazote to Mezcal barrels from Oaxaca, Mexico. We're scheduled to bottle/keg/cask this beer next month. The recipe was written and the beer was brewed with our friend Kristina who owns West Lakeview Liquors in Chicago. We have no name or artwork for this beer yet, and there's no release date set. I'm pretty sure it won't be a metal themed beer.

Please make sure the artwork is mesoamerican, it be baller as hell! Aztec or Mayan themed! I really want to try this however! Never had anything aged in Mezcal barrels yet.

When I was down there in mid December I was told that there would be a bourbon barrel aged cherry sour coming out soon. This "Mezcal Metal" sounds pretty interesting, though.

We have taken mature, barrel aged wild beer and refermented it with sour cherries from Michigan. The barrels used in the fermentation were neutral ones, not Bourbon barrels. We're scheduled to bottle/keg/cask this beer late this month.

Hmm, my mistake. Well I'm very excited about it, cherries do fantastically in beer. Any word on what size bottles these will be? 500ml or 750ml?

Some of the barrels used in the fermentation were whiskey barrels originally, but those barrels are pretty neutral now. The bottles will be 500ml.
