Getting close to all of them...

All 104... Toughest to find was Happoshu - but I did end up finding it at both a Japanese market and a sushi restaurant in the greater NYC area (Brooklyn for the restaurant and Edgewater, NJ for the Japanese market).

I've had 91 out of... 104? Hmmm... I'm missing almost as many US states as I am styles, seems like. Wonder if I could have one of each missing style form one of each missing state... the mind reels.

I've tried 65 out of 104, though it may be worth noting that 3 of the 104 listed "styles" are, "in the process of being sorted and moved into proper categories," indicating that these categories are temporary dumping grounds and perhaps should not be counted as true styles (fruit/vegetable beer, herbed/spiced beer, and smoked beer).

Trying a beer of each style is not important to me, 'specially because even the recognized styles tend to be pretty nebulous. But if I got within, like, 10, my latent OCD would probably kick in and then I'd buy beers I could care less about just to say I tried all the styles. Looking at the listing now though, I can't spot a style I haven't tried that I'm really motivated to seek out just for the sake of doing so.

'Type' is the more tradition word. And its more accurate in its more open interpretation.

No idea about NYC, but in the UK most Russian restaurants have kvass and Russian delis sometimes stock it. Still searching for Happoshu...

I have had all 14 styles. I haven't had some of the ridiculous number of subcategories that BJCP insists on including in their ridiculous list, but I believe I have tried every style there is. Case in point is Happoshu, which is a bottom fermented beer with adjuncts. Why we need to say more than bottom fermented, or bottom fermented with adjuncts, for those beers is beyond me.

And, yes, I know I am in the extreme minority on this.

Agree, but forced it down - still not as bad as Desparados tequila beer.

The substyles are kind of necessary for competitions- for everything else, not so much.

Irish Red isn't really a British style. I meant Southern Brown Ale, Northern Brown Ale, Robust Porter and Scottish Ale.

There's some hot new action in Lapland with a few Imperial dry-firred Sahtis popping up. No Clydesdales, just Reindeer.

I found the list of styles and I see on my profile that I've had 88 of them but is there somewhere where I can see which ones I have and haven't had without manually going through and checking?
