The Imperial Stout is very underrated IMO.

By Imperial Line, are you just referring to any beers with "imperial" in the title (imperial stout and imperial white) or the barrel room collection?

I think their double bock is in the imperial line of beer they offer. I thought it was a bit too sticky (overly sweet, so that my lips felt sticky after drinking it) but it was tasty though.

From what I understood from my BBC rep the Brewmasters Imperial line was being phased out this year with the exception of the Double Bock. No more Imperial White or Imperial Stout. I thought they were decent; not incredible and the price points were high as 4pks but solid beers.

I believe the line is called the Imperial Line on their site and on the bottles included they say Samuel Adams Imperial Line.

No such line exists. I wish it did. With that said, there would currently only be two beers with that label: Wee Heavy and Imperial Stout. The Imperial Stout and Imperial White used to share the same style label and identifying terminology until they started making the White in the larger format (older 4 packs can still be found on a regular basis though). I think most Sam Adams beers are underrated. I've had every single one that has been bottled with the exception on 2 and most draft only versions as well. I wish this community gave them more credit for their contributions to the craft beer movement (though I am unsettled by Koch's recent comments).

Also I highly agree I think Sam Adams is very underrated and deserves a lot more credit than they are given.

    There was this: http://www.boston.com/lifestyle/food/blogs/99bottles/2013/04/mystic_brewing_finds_a_niche_j.html
And then this accusation by Lagunitas (not sure if it's true or not):http://business.time.com/2014/01/08...raft-beer-drinkers-takes-a-bitter-turn/print/

To make disparaging comments about a beer being too extreme or common is ridiculous in my opinion - especially coming from him. Sure, bigger may not always mean better in terms of taste (especially when higher abv beers mask flaws better than lighter, low abv beers), but he sounds like a jealous, needy older brother who is no longer getting all the attention due to a new birth in the family. It's petty.

I typed imperial line, but I meant Imperial Series. There "was" such a "line' of beer, but I don't know if it still exists.
I know that the Double Bock I have in a bottle right now makes no mention whatsoever of Imperial Series.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it doesn't. When they first came out, I was hoping it would be a new line for them in the same way they have come out with their barrel room collection. Unfortunately, they seem to have abandoned it. What's the date on that Double Bock? Also, do you guys still see Infinium around your neck of the woods? I grew up in RI and moved to NYC for college. I don't see much Sam around here aside from the usual suspects (sad, I know).

Koch contradicts himself basically in that interview. He says it's about brewing to give people pleasure. Many people find pleasure in massive hop bombs. He focuses his anti-hop bomb pitch on lack of brewer skill, balance, and people not having a nuanced or mature palate (like his).
He could have said this much better than he did. He comes off petty and holier than thou a bit.
