This was directly from the Bruery's website, so it looks like you're exactly right:

"For next year, we’ve also decreased the number of guaranteed bottles while increasing the number of releases to allow us to help avoid over-production of any single release. This doesn’t mean that we expect members to buy every single allocation available, and we do adjust our projections accordingly. Still, we do depend on a certain threshold of sales for reach release."

Hoping this means one of the mystery beers this year might be sitrp.

"This suggests to me" has a considerably different meaning than "This means".

Great info and great thread, thanks everyone for the great inputs here.

As an RS member, I'm quickly finding that the Bruery bottles quickly stacking up in my cellar are all beers that, with a few exceptions, are beers that I can in no way drink on my own (nor would I want to), or even complete with another friend or two. I know this topic has been touched upon briefly in the Beer Talk forum with regard to preference of bottle sizes, etc., but how do you other RS/HS members enjoy all of these high ABV brews? I find myself needing to bring them along to every tasting over and above other, similar brews due to the 15%+ ABVs on some of these (tasty) monsters.

My wife and I usually have no problems sharing a bottle. Maybe we just drink too much ..

I also have yet to have an issue sharing one with one other person. Granted I treat it like a bottle of wine, sharing over the course of an evening but they're so good I dont have an issue. The only time where drinking half or a third of the bottle was difficult was Fruet.

same, I could polish off a bottle of BT by myself, but I'd be paying for it the next day. I usually share a bottle with my wife, she doesnt drink much, 4-6 oz , but its enough to lighten the load so that i can still go to work the next day.

Time for a nitpicking post: Anyone know for certain that MW is also available for pickup? The Reserve list from website obviously doesn't include Hoarders beers and the email only said "both" in relation to the pickups which I take to mean they cut and paste the email they sent to Reserve and forgot to amend it for MW.

Only ask because I'm booking the ticket from Jersey and want to get the timing right. Thanks in advance.

They were giving out bottles of MW in the tasting room last night (to the hoarders, of course).

I usually consume my bottles over two or three days. Just pour a glass and pop a cork in it. Just had a bottle of Bois and it was still solid on both the second and third days. I usually try to consume by the second day, but don't be afraid to go 3 for a relatively new release.

Anyone know if we can combine shipping of the initiation package + other bottles purchased this year? If I remember correctly last year the initiation package came in its own special box and couldn't be combined.

i think this is really ebony and oak batch 2, but they used a different name to stray away from a known infected beer. Ebony and oak sounded really promising, hopefully this one succeeds

Is Mocha Wednesday substantially different from the Mocha Black Tuesday served at last year's initiation party?

I thought the latter was not great, and so if they're similar I'd avoid seeking out a bottle.

Cork really isn't needed if you drink it the next day. I find the carb is still pretty Good!

Coffee / roasted flavors are more refined. More chocolate and vanilla come through. Not as boozy / hot.

As a newbie RS member, can anyone tell me how they send the beer in the quarterly shipments? I purchased a shipper but I don't see anywhere to have The Bruery automatically ship it to me.

I did purchase a 12 flex shipper and bought welcome sale stuff, so will they send both together?

Yup they should along as you bought the welcome stuff as pick up option. I would email them to be sure and make sure everything is squared away. I did the same and mine hasnt been shipped yet. Figured Id give them until Friday to send them an email.
