I see both sides of the argument, but I honestly think I would do it the way you do if I ran a store. Honestly, just about all businesses work that way. The best customers get the rewards. Companies go out and grab season tickets right behind home plate and give them to their clients... which clients get them? The ones who give the most business. It's just the way it is.

I got a four pack of the barleywine from Sonoma in Glastonbury last night. I think he said he's getting the coffee variant soon too!

I also see both sides as well. I think it is important as a business owner to keep an open mind as well. I do see the importance of holding for your top customers as they are the ones who contribute the most, but I also see how releasing some of it could attract new customers as well, especially if you have a decent selection.

I have to disagree with you on that one. It is definitely warranted. I had a feeling you would be the one to say something like that btw.

Funny, so people won't want to come to my store now because I am a beer manager who is super loyal to his customers? Or because I said fuck? Or because you just like to be the one who always has something to say?

I have an opinion, yes. I guess that is taboo on a beer message board now.

To be 100% fair, I don't necessarily even disagree with you, but the way you came off and the tone made you look ridiculous.

I get that about it attracting customers, I really do. It's just this particular beer, especially the coffee, has been a nightmare. For the past 3 nights I went home and wanted to enjoy time with my wife and kids and was unable to due to various threats I received if I did not release this beer the way some people wanted it to be. Anyone would be mad if they were being threatened and harassed while they were off the clock trying to spend time with their kids etc.

I get that it probably looks ridiculous but if you knew why I was extremely pissed I think you would understand. There comes a point where it's just like whatever I don't even care anymore.

It's not taboo but sometimes I feel like even if you agree with someone you will post the opposite just to show an opposite opinion. Which like u said tho u r entitled to do that ur right.

Wow. Sorry that I expressed an opinion. I thought this was an open forum. Didn't realize that you control this place and are able to tell me to "be quiet."

Furthermore, I think I made it quite clear that I understand the reasons for it and I can appreciate those reasons. I can see both sides, and I was just expressing an opinion that I wish more shops took a hybrid approach.

Also, for shops that do reserve a portion of their special releases to regular sales, rather than pre-sale lists, I don't think they should allow anyone to come in and "clean them out." Bottle limits are more than fair. Anyway, again, I said, TWICE, that I wasn't singling you out, but speaking more generally about this process. I have been to shops where there are THREE CASES of BCBCS on the floor and they are all spoken for. That's the kind of thing I wish didn't happen.

To get this back on track... it looks like coffee and barleywine are slowly making their way out this week, but has there been any info regarding Backyard?

I stopped by Total Wine late morning and asked who I assumed was the manager if they received the variants in. He said they did recieve them yesterday but they weren't priced and that he was going to put them for sale on Monday morning. Just called...sold their last bottle 10 minutes ago. Pretty bummed about it.
