My wife and family are most important. I shouldn't even bring them up because they are not hobbies, they are my life and they complete my other half. My career is definitely important, but in order for me to achieve balance, I don't obsess over my work. I just do my best to help my students and colleagues.

Beer is a great way to pass the time away. I love reading and talking about it more than drinking it, although I love drinking it, too. I drink more coffee and green tea than I drink beer (gotta have my coffee or green tea every day). My most important things in my life (in no particular order): travelling to exotic locations around the world (just floated the Mekong not long ago), playing harmonica and the guitar, hiking, skiing, soccer (or should I say futball for all the European/English BA's), basketball, running, cycling, and reading.

Beer is life. The rest is just details.

 

Computers and electronics have always been a huge part of my life. I turned my computer hobby into a career and eventually my own business a couple decades ago. I love to tinker, design, and build things. I also love to cook. I've been married to the most wonderful woman in the world for 30+ years. I have 2 amazing boys. One is already a young man starting his journey in life. All of those things are my foundation and they all support my love of beer. It's not just about drinking beer. I also brew and am constantly learning and experimenting. I sort of secretly imagine being able to somehow make it my after career (Not much of a secret since I'm posting it here). So beer is very important, but in a synergistic way with the rest of my life.

(And that one guy who played the guy that dies at the end of the Hunger Games movie in that new war movie trailer that has Marky Mark in it.) Oh snap! That comes out today! Is there already a thread about sneaking beer into movies theaters? Or should I go start one?

Beer, then travel... although most of my travels have been beer related, so just beer.

Plus I've got some lapsed hobbies like writing, drawing comics.

 

As far as hobbies go....

In fact, beer accompanies and compliments every hobby I have that doesn't involve firearms.

 

answering this question truthfully would force me to do a re-examination of my life which I'm not currently interested in doing, at least until I get home from work and have, you know, a couple beers...
