I agree with this and also FFF Behemoth. The reason being is they're both very hoppy barleywines. Love 'em

I also thought BCBBW was extremely sweet. Maybe that's how it's supposed to be, but it was hard to imagine this as being balanced with the cough syrupy sweetness it had. It took me 2 days to drink a 12oz bottle solely because of that. I'm aging the rest in the hopes that the sweetness will subside, but I have my doubts...

My experience with Bigfoot is that is has remarkable staying power. I did a side-by-side spanning different releases (different years) and it was amazingly consistent.

The one time I go to San Diego the only brewery I get to go to is Coronado, and their barleywine was AMAZING on tap.

BCBBW...outstanding. I've haven't explored tons of barleywines but this reigns supreme. Dangerously drinkable.

If by dangerously drinkable, you mean you can't detect the alcohol, I think it's because it's hidden behind a thick veil of syrupy sweetness.

The best barleywine for drinking immediately is the one in your hand .

Drink fresh first; aging is an option...

Sucaba is fantastic, however I can't agree with you about freshness. Barleywine's BEG to be aged. They have a high enough alcohol content to do it very well. Some friends and I recently tried a 2006 Stone Old Guardian....it was amazing.

I came to say the ones in my fridge, but you beat me to it! I cannot wait for Bigfoot to come out again and I agree with the prior poster that it is really good fresh, or aged, and the price is right.

I have had Sucaba aged for 12-14
Months and preferred fresh, for sure. Class of 88' barleywine was amazing fresh, and most sessionable to me, for the style. Pretty Things finest regards barleywine is a beautiful interpretation of the style to me as well.

Totally agree with you on the ability to age I just don't care for it. I enjoy fresh, high alcohol, room temp Barleywine
    Love the burn
