Ill be in Sacramento on/around the 25th this month and was wondering if there were any places that carried any RR stuff, preferably their sours. I know the brewery is around 2 hours away but unfortunately I don't think I will have any down time while I'm there.
I was in Sac last month and hit 4 stores and no RR at all... Best bet might be Davis Bottle Shop in Davis, CA right down the road if you have the time. I would call them first before you head out...
It's sad, the only time I see RR here is Pliny on draft at Burgers & Brew or Pangaea, or random bottles at Corti Bros. Only saw any other bottles once, a random Supplication at Total Wine (and TW says they only carry Pliny now, which I've gotten there ONCE). Then I go to SF and Portland and it's everywhere. Nothing in Sacramento, too much in Portland. What's up with that?
I will suggest that you go to Pangaea and have a drink or 2.. They have a lambic bar and a good selection of beers to go.. they had to go from what I remember Crooked Stave, Heretic, Lost Abbey, Port Brewing, Hanssens Artisianal, and some other good lambics
I did not find the prices to be high the drinks to go where in line with what I paid for the exact same thing at Beer Barn and Beer Craft in Santa Rosa.. from other threads it seems they used to be expensive but have come down recently.
No, Don't go to Pangaea. Place is overpriced, and a ripoff, everything wrong with craft beer. It's a poisoned well for out of towners. Go to Final Gravity over in the Roseville area or the Davis Beer Shoppe for great selections and great taps and prices. YOU'RE WELCOME.
Have you been to Pangaea lately? They were priced just fine and right at same prices as every other shop I have been to in Cali. I was there on a Thursday night and it was packed with locals. Tons of great stuff on draft as well! Next time I am in town I will stop by again.
Nope. Don't plan on ever going back. Too much better options out there. Glad to know some folks are enjoying it, not for me or my homies though.
Understood.. There are places in Houston that are highly rated but I dont care for.. mostly cause the people who frequent them are horrible.. I just have never been to a place with a lambic bar and the staff was very knowledgeable and let me try all sorts of stuff before deciding. 2 employees even came over and chit chatted for awhile and wanted to know about craft beer in Texas. I saw nothing that said "this is what is wrong with craft beer" but I did find a great place with great beer and good people with decent prices.
Can you elaborate? Are you saying with Younger that it becomes a place with horrible people and high prices on Younger. With Younger I can understand.. its probably the most hyped and scarce beer that people come out of the woodworks from all over the US to try.. People stand in line for half a day/buy lottery tickets for a change to get a few pulls... I guess we will agree to disagree about Pangaea but I have heard from alot of other BA'ers that Pangaea is way better than they used to be.
Went there once a little more than a year ago.Bottles were high so I didn't buy anything.Got some food and it was ok.Got a couple samples.Had a couple beers including a Pliny which,to me was good but not great.Spent about $30.So between beers and tastes I think I was able to try maybe 4 or 5 beers.Bar tender was pretty knowledgeable service was pretty good.It was a weekend afternoon. And it was fine.Would I go there again ? Yes,but there are other places I haven't tried or been back to like Track 7,Capital,Bike Dog,Knee Deep,Davis Beer Shoppe. So I don't get the hate either but I just don't get the chance to do it very often.
