Bevmo would cover you for the most part, There are some various liquor stores that would have most of what BevMo has and a few things they might not. In Atascadero, El Camino Liquor has by far the best selection, SLO either Sandy's, Crossroads, Quik Stop would be the best bets for bottles. Pismo-California Fresh Market(tons of mikkeller stuff if you like it)
Also Luis Wine Bar in SLO and Dunbar brewing in Santa Margarita have bottles for on premise or to go at close to or the same prices of bottle shops/bevmo and will have all the good stuff the liquor stores do. They are also the only 2 places I know of that you can get Almanac(Sour Bourbon Porter sooo good) and Crooked Stave bottles in the county. I pour at Dunbar on Friday and Sat night so you can hit me up if you want to know about specifc bottles or prices, or if you are in the area come say hi.

Why no bottle shop dedicated to craft? (compared to, for example, San Diego where I live: we have Bottlecraft, Bine & Vine, Best Damn Beer Shop and a handful of others) Are there any such bottle shops in planning stages? Or is there just not a market for it up there?

Yeah partially not a market, but also up until 3-4 years ago, we really did not have much as far as distribution of solid craft beer outside the SN, SA, Stone and Firestone beers. Also, SLO is a college town, so cheap alcohol still is the big seller, may be why there are just liquor stores and not good beer stores. Things have improved quite a bit around here as far as distribution so maybe down the road and all the liquor stores are taking notice and growing their beer selections and cold storage. ALot of the demand has been taken care of by new breweries and a few new dedicated beer bars that try to get good stuff on draft and bottles for the growing beer geek crowd

Cambria Beer Company (in Cambria, 'natch) is all craft beer with 14 taps, largely local and regional beer. Mostly 22s, some 6packs. Small but friendly and probably not a lot that you won't find at BevMo.

Support local beer and local beer shoppes!!

Cambria Beer Company? A brewery or a bottle shop? Or both?

    Oops, I'm sorry.

Cambria Beer Company is the brewery. Cambria Alehouse is the pub/bottle shop. Not bad for a tiny tourist town filled with old white people.

Ah, OK, thanks. I'll check out that place this weekend. I looked on their Facebook page, and it looks like they're opening a second location in Baywood Park.
