Going on a beer trip with a couple friends from Texas. Any suggestions on where to go other than the well known places Deschutes,Belmont Station,HUB,HOTD,Cascade etc. Also we have been trying to call/email Logsdon for a tour but haven't heard anything back yet,do you just show up? Thanks
Logsdon only opens their annexed tasting room to the public during the warmer seasons. Not sure how regularly they give tours though during the winter.
Yeah, Lodgson is probably a no-go...hope you get lucky and can get in there though. If you go out to Hood River anyway, pFriem is a good alternative. Pizza and a couple of brews at Double Mountain are a must as well. As mentioned, The Commons and Upright are two great choices within Portland.
It hasn't been updated much in the last couple months, but this should be a very helpful thread: http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/visiting-portland-fall-2013-update.120173/
I was at Logsdon maybe 3 months ago on a Saturday afternoon and they had a guy there doing tastings, I'm not sure if thats a regular weekend thing or not but I was in the area so I stopped in and lucked out by getting to try some of their stuff. I also bought a few bottles from them. As far as PDX goes, Breakside/Gigantic and The Commons are probably my 3 favorites.
Not specifically in Portland, but check out brews from Ale Apothecary and Crux if you can find bottles/taps.
Correct me if I am wrong, but didnt you used to live in Texas? (Think I remember talking to you about Myanmar on here).
Ah ok. Seems like you got stuck with some terrible beer up there. I almost feel sorry for you. I will be up there at the beginning of Feb (to Portland) and am definitely looking forward to it....
I should be at the sour tasting on that Sunday. But, I will likely be doing some massive beer tour on Saturday.
