I gave up hope with CT getting Backyard a while ago. Ended up trading for one. I'll see if any turn up down this way though.

i was there today , asked for coffee said they were out. But they had 4 , 4 packs of barleywine - i didnt get price. A few spots in milford on the post road mostly got barleywine. I know 2 places had just gotten barley wine friday morning and each store said next week they are scheduled to get coffee. Good luck.

Bev Max Stamford still had what looked like plenty (but less than a case) of each of Barley Wine and Coffee today at noon. Have to ask for it still. Seemed like they might eventually be putting it if it didn't go.

Off topic slightly but they had world wide stout new today (was out but not in the system yet).

West Hartford is getting Backyard Rye on Wednesday, per my buddy @ my local beer joint. Apparently only 11 cases made their way to the entire state of Connecticut.

Bummed that I missed BW and Coffee in Stamford by less than a week... Was just asking them about it last Wednesday.

fuckin kay's? they were always a reliable stop for some ancient american craft or belgian when i would hang out with people at woodcliff, but kay's has bourbon county varieties? hah, did the owner try to sell you any palate-taylored wine whlie you were there? i like that place.

I seem to have missed the boat on Backyard, any places near New Haven have it as of this week?

haha.... The owner of Kay's is awesome, really friendly and knowledgeable. On a side note, their craft beer selection is top quality and the owner says they are always increasing the selection. They don't have the biggest selection, but they have all quality and hard to find stuff when its in. I saw some of the goose island sour ales there as well. Might head back to pick one or two up this weekend...

Madison wine exchange has regular, barley wine and coffee. Coffee was $9.99 single or $39.99. I took a pass on that :grimacing:

That's out of control. This information will make me never shop there again. That's almost a 100% markup from other places I bought it from.

I was waiting to hear who this year's culprit would be. Cheers to Madison Wine Exchange for making this BA's blacklist!

The owner of Madison Wine Exchange also owns a couple other stores including Valley Discount Wine and Liquor in Ansonia. He said he was using the same price, $9.99 and $39.99, at all his stores and that not one person has ever complained. Literally told me he wanted to charge more but that he "is one of the better owners in Connecticut so he wanted to cut everyone a break and keep his customers happy at these cheap prices." I laughed in his face and walked out. He's the owner and can do whatever he wants, charge $199 a bottle for all I care, its his store. But don't try to tell me you are doing me a favor with a straight face. I will NEVER go to any of his stores again

The real problem is that they will sellout. I bought two bombers of last years coffee at $20, and I never saw it anywhere else ( not at Madison) so it's less than I paid last year.

They are always overpriced on hype beers, but they are not that knoledgeable, the problem with hype beers is that everyone calls, asks, I talked to one of the owners last week and he said everyone keeps asking about coffee( myself included) They probably got 1-2 cases, and it's supply in demand, plenty of money in Madison.

Beers that are highly rated on ba cost more here, back east imperial stout is $12 compared to 9-10, but it has a 91 rating, so they mark it up.

They had a small supply of midnight bret $17 (it's gone) $2above at the brewery allagash price, but no one is calling the about the beer and they know nothing about the price

Ok-glad you guys were on my side with this one. I was appalled and walked out, was gonna get something else, but I can't justify spending my money there again

Feel free to add "The Bridge" in New Milford. Went in the day they came in and bought 1 (limit 1) for $7.99. A little high, but I can deal with it.

Go back last night, and I could have bought a few.... at $9.99 each!

    Fuck that noise.

I had a very similar conversation with the beer manager last night at store I mentioned above.
