Hello Dear BA Friends! I am traveling to Phoenix and Flagstaff for the first time and would appreciate any advice/suggestions on where to find some excellent locally crafted beer and good food. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I'm currently on a similar trip and was provided some excellent advice - take a browse through the posts. http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/visiting-chandler-phoenix-1-3-1-13.137727/#post-2068427
When you're in Flag I'd recommend Pizzicleta (conveniently next door to Mother Road Brewery) and Diablo Burger for food. Of course be sure to check out Beaver Street/Lumberyard while you're up there. I've also heard good things about Wanderlust, but haven't had any myself.
Where are you staying in Phoenix? These are good recommendations for Flag. Hops on Birch is another place you might want to check out.
Thank you for the Hops on Birch recommendation. I haven't looked into hotel accomodations just yet - I'm not looking for anything fancy, just clean and convenient to some sightseeing and beer/food.
The Papago Best Western Inn is a pretty good place to stay. Located right next door to Papago Brewing and half way between Tempe and old town Scottsdale. Second rec would be any of the motels located near ASU that are north of Apache Blvd.
I d suggest persuing this thread http://beeradvocate.com/community/t...nix-and-sedona-flagstaff.122239/#post-1817572
Check out santan'a brewpub in chandler, ohso at 40th at and Indian school, or four peaks' restaurant in north Scottsdale. Some great food and great brews.
Got home on Saturday night and just wanted to thank everyone for their generous suggestions. Here's what i was able to accomplish: Day 1 - dinner at Beaver Street Brewing in Flagstaff Day 2 - dinner at Lumberyard Brewing in Flagstaff Day 3 - dinner at Flagstaff Brewing in Flagstaff Day 4 - dinner at Oak Creek Brewing in Sedona Day 5 - lunch at dinner Arizona Wilderness Brewing / dinner at Four Peaks Brewing (8th Street location) in Phoenix Day 6 - lunch at Sun Up Brewing / dinner at Fate Brewing in Phoenix I tried visiting Grand Canyon Brewing in Williams but the place is closed (to the public) I was able to purchase a few of their bombers at the General Store in Grand Canyon NP though. Brought them home as souveniers. While I enjoyed visiting them all, here's my humble opinion ranking: #1 Fate Brewing - brilliantly crafted beers, great food, extremely friendly/patient staff. Just overall brilliant. #2 Arizona Wilderness Brewing - brilliantly crafted beers, great food, extremely friendly staff (discussed the local Phoenix craft beer scene with Bobby for almost half an hour!) Again just brilliant. #3 Four Peaks Brewing (8th Street location) - great beers, good food, amazing location and integration of restuarant and brewery - the sheer scale of it was inspiring. #4 Oak Creek Brewing - terrific beers, excellent food, friendly wait staff, located in beautiful Sedona inside the beautiful Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village. #5 Sun Up Brewing - boldly crafted beers, friendly wait staff. Location is kind of divey, but has a fun spirit. #6 Beaver Street Brewing - adequate beers, fast and friendly wait staff. Uninspired interior. #7 Lumberyard Brewing - Same as #6 - Same owners as well. Cool location, but uninspired interior. #8 Flagstaff Brewing - adequate beers, fun grungy divey place.
