The current system is good in theory, but the execution this year absolutely sucked.

The ticket printer clearly didn't mix up the winners which made a lot of people disappointed and gave a few lucky people a lot more winners than expected.

I am going to go with the guy who is whining about the guy who he is accusing of whining about the whiners, but that's just me. "Don't be so dramatic." What was dramatic about my statement? Oh, I get it, when you post absurd assumptions about how a lottery is run with no basis in reality that is not dramatic, but when I explain that the ridiculousness of some of the poster's "critiques", yours included, about this process have turned me off of BA that's drama. I guess this at least gives me the opportunity to populate my "ignore user" list. But don't worry, you won the internet today!

To those of you who do in fact respect beer, can't wait to see you in a week for some good good times!

Next time, I'd suggest calling ahead to ask what their hours are. That's what I did

Oddly enough, over reactions like this one are the reason I don't post much here. Struck a nerve I guess, yeesh

I probably should have but they probably also should have made the hours the tickets were on sale known as well. They also had no obligation to sell me anything but they easily could have sold me a few tickets about half an hour after they stopped since I did spend the time and money going there. It would have been nice to have some good customer service that way. My two friends and I were also carded at the door then by the waitress a few minutes later which I didn't understand either.

Will someone please explain how this distinction was possible prior to scratching the tickets? Thanks.

Oh sweet! I didn't know there was an ignore user feature. Thanks for pointing it out and being my first

How about they just print up tickets in eight different colors, and then after they're all sold out they spin a wheel or something to decide which color is the "winner." People can try to buy an even distribution of colors or try to be lucky and favor some colors more than others.

I don't think anything will keep people from complaining, though.

Pretty straightforward question I suppose. I'm a first-timer this year, and we'll be a group of 4 who plan on getting in and hanging out the majority of the day. Kate Day veterans, when would the most ideal time to get in line be to be sure to get in with the first wave? Past experiences and any suggestions about the day are welcome! Thanks.

    I'm already in line...

If you're not in line already might want to turn around and drive back home

If I were going this year and the weather was not miserable, I'd probably just aim to get in line by about 7am to be safe. I think it was about 9:something last year to get in on the first wave, and craft beer has only grown massively since then. Shitty weather means you can probably get there a bit later.

I never did hear about that as BA was down at the time. How bad of a shitshow was it?

It was cold as F*&^ and windy. Middle of February. Couldn't believe the amount of people there although I keep forgetting what's happening in craft beer right now.

I kind of figured with all the pre-trade madness going on in the trading forums. But then again it ended up being Kate ticket day, so I figured that would have kept a bunch of people away.
