Getting closer

 

I need some help/assistance from the Charlotte folks. I'm trying to book a hotel in uptown and all places (except the Westin) are booked. Apparently this event is the same weekend as the CIAA tourny. So as a result, hotel prices have skyrocketed. A room at the Westin for 3/1 is $400. But the following Saturday, it drops to $180. Gotta love price gouging. So if anybody can recommend a reasonable hotel nearby, I'd appreciate it. Cheers!

 

You may want to try the southpark area. Its far enough away from ciaa, as about all of those events are downtown. Should only be about a $15 cab ride which is pennies in a bucket vs. a $400 hotel room.

 

Thanks. So the Marriot there is $249 on 3/1 and $99 on 3/8. So it looks like no matter where I go, there's going to be a gouge.

 

That is your best bet if you are looking to stay near anything. What I would do is book your room in SouthPark, then check daily during the CIAA week for rooms that pop up. Sometimes folks leave early if their team loses early (not many though as the CIAA is just a big party week). I would check even Saturday morning for a better rate somewhere uptown.

Cab ride from Visulite to Southpark shouldn't be more than $15 or so.

anyone coming from the Matthews/Weddington area want to share a cab for the ride home? My wife is gonna drop me and a buddy off and I suspect getting a cab with the CIAA in town is gonna be tough but I dont know what other options we have...
