Pseudo Sue (latest batch has off taste?)

    I think everybody knows there is some variation in Sue. Didn't the brewer even say there was a reason? I could be wrong and usually am. I have to admit I was never a big Sue fan though but I've only had it on tap. It is just too one dimensional. It needs some other backup hops. But I was not a big fan of Kern Citra so maybe it's just me .

    i bought davenport and bettendorf. No problems, in fact i think its the closest i have had to the case i got on kb's day. definitely nothing wrong with this one at all. if anything, i would say there was something a little off with the one before this batch. not "off" bad, just batch variation. it comes with getting accustomed to a new brewhouse.

    Update, have not had a chance to try any of my remaining ones yet. Have a touch of stomach flu. Looking very much like either something I ate threw off taste or glass I used or just had random bad bottle.

    if he had a bad bottle who is to say someone else has not opened one yet? Would you like them to create a new thread with the same title?

    I can see where you are coming from, just cracked my first of this batch and it has a slight tartness in the finish that I have never tasted. Not bad by any means... But where the last couple batches I would have rated 5 this one is more 4.65.

    What is wrong with this thread? I'm sorry I thought I had bottle with a off taste and wanted to see if anyone else had one. Like I have posted numerous times I am a huge TG supporter and don't hold anything against them in the slightest. It's a consumable item and it can happen to any beer.

    I just didn't get the juicy sweet taste in the middle, was just super sour and just sat on back of my tongue. As soon as my stomach flu goes away I will try one of my remaining Sues.

    Some people take their TG very seriously. They have batch variations. Some people are going to enjoy some batches more than others. You tasted something off, said something, they got a hold of you. Pretty sure everything worked like it was supposed to.

    That is exactly what I tasted, a lingering sourness/tartness that detracted from what I have come to expect in this beer. It smelled exactly like every other Sue I have had however.

    Drinking one of mine now. Tastes great to me. Not the best batch perhaps, but nothing wrong. Sorry about your experience @bocky24

    Possible, didn't get sick til Saturday and had beer Thursday. No matter what happened it's clearly isolated incident which was all I was curious about.

    No, I suppose I should but I'm not usually in Iowa. I was just visiting family for the weekend. I have a friend here who told me I should check out the Bettendorf Hy-Vee. I'll have to next time I'm in town. At this point I don't think I'll be able to make any beer runs.
