Only Jack's Abby growlers. It's a Massachusetts law that breweries can only fill their own growlers.

 

I was planning on making the journey after work yesterday for some Framinghammer and to try, and probably buy, Boston Steam Pie...then I completely forgot...

FWIW, Trillium just put this in their updated FAQ page, which I think is very helpful, especially for out of staters.

 

Off topic but we need to get that law changed. No incentive for brewers to use collective power to change it, it would have to come from a consumer driven effort. I know its near impossible, but in NC a consumer group lifted the cap on abv%, so I am sure something less damning could be done.

 

Tried the BA Framinghammer on tap at the Taproom yesterday - first sip seemed really bourbon forward but concluded in time I think the flavors are well-blended. Saw a couple people buying large quantities or cases on an early thursday afternoon so I bet a lot will go over the weekend.

- Also agree with others the Boston Steam Pie is a total treat esp on Nitro.

 

I don't think it's a law...more like grey area.

 

Was there yesterday for a snifter of BA Framinghammer and tried a sample of the Boston Steam Pie.

BA F was on point - absolutely delicious.

Steam Pie was good and unique but not necessarily my cup o' tea.

Went to the brewery today and its best experience I've ever had at a brewery. All the employees were eager to talk beer and help out customers. Obviously, it helped that the beer kicked ass. Will definitely come again.

If I can speak honestly, Hopstitution needs to get into bottles as I think its your best beer. Also, I would have liked if Baby Maker was a darker color like Mother of All Storms, Sucaba or Bourbon County Barleywine. Aside from that, it was an excellent day.

I second Liquid Courage's post above. First time to Jack's Abby today and definitely enjoyed my time there. Staff was helpful and eager to talk beer. It's always nice when employees at a brewery have a passion for what they do. Beer was fantastic. Had two flights to get to sample a bunch. Hopstitution, Mass Rising, and Framinghammer (both types) were my favorites. But really all their beers are top notch in my book. Finished off the afternoon with lunch and wouldn't you know it they had Hoponious Union on draft. Also a favorite of mine, not part of the flights I had since I get this beer regularly.

 

Baby maker is perfect just the way it is.
