Let the shit show commence. I'm going to abstain from these. I was lucky enough to get mine before it got crazy last year. They were very good but not so good that I'm going to deal with even a fraction of what the release looked like last year. Also for me the value of the beer does not align with the price increase.

    Good luck everyone.

Does this mean Distro to other stores. Or solely at Julios ?

Regular was 5-6 (now 8) the variants were 8 (now 10). There was a price increase across the board. Regular is still worth it to me.

Very unlikely it will be like that this year. Massive production increase + large amount going to distribution as well as the at brewery release = less shitshow.

I'm similarly less inclined. Great beers, but $10 for 500mL makes me think a little harder about it.

It's more than BCBS or any the 4 pack variants. Nothing against JA or Framinghammer because I do love it, but I'd rather just pick up another 4 pack of of BCBS at that price point.

2.84 BA Framinghammers = 1 4pk of BCBS (in volume). 2.84 BA Framinghammers = $22.71. Pretty normal/less than BCBS 4pk price, no? I suppose you can find BCBS for less than that, though.

But I'd rather drink BA Framinghammer, so my opinion is clearly colored here.

yeah, 25-30% jump seems a little on a high. Price of tying oneself up to a distributor..?

$10 for coffee and vanilla MSRP, who knows exactly what the retailers will charge.....
BCBS $18 retail goes anywhere from $18-$25 on average.
JA BAHF Variants $10 Retail = $ real life?

I can get BCBS for $20. 2.84 of the variants end up at $28.40. That's where the value dips for me. I paid the regular price as I still found it to be worth it.

If the price setter is tuned in to the demand there was for these last time it could get ugly.

Gotcha, I read your post wrong then. Yes, I agree on the variants.

Did the cost of production go up, or is this just good ol' charge-what-the-market-will-bear capitalism?

I suppose they've invested a fair amount of money in expanding the brewery and bar and all that, but the only way I could see actual production costs going up 25% would be if they made significantly less product, which they absolutely are not doing.

I never found the BCBS for $20; oddly I did find a couple bottles of BCBCS for $4.99 though.

comparisons to BCBS are pretty tough b/c that is about the cheapest barrel aged, top rated stout there is. KBS, Black Note, BBPT5, all end up costing more. Black Tuesday way way more. GI has scale advantages JA's doesn't - or likely more than any of the others mentioned.

I can understand why someone would buy BCBS over JA but there is a reason why prices are the way they are.

also, JA coming in with lower prices could very well have been a sound strategy to gain a lot of people trying their beers but may never have been truly sustinable. also as mentioned they have expanded a ton and that costs real money. just be glad they aren't creating a $300 club to pay for that stuff, ala some other local small places.

I wonder what "Do What's Right" would charge for a barrel aged coffee imp lager/stout?
