I thought mariage parfait was mediocre by the way and tilquin is good but can be on the sweeter side rather than funky

I know what you mean. I've met, drank and talked with Armand a few times, and the first time I had Intense Red he was right over my shoulder. I almost slapped him in the face to say get back to work, this beer sucks.
Would never though, he's the man.

And yet you feel compelled to pipe in to this thread. What class are you in? Beer Boasting 301?

All beer suggestion threads must die!

I guess some people on BA think it's "funny" when "noobs" call up shops asking for rare stuff.

"Cantillon OG, sure how many cases you want?"

You're not going to find 3F or Cantillon (in my area at least) other than x2 retail at a bar... Hanssens Oude Gueze, Bruery Rueze, and Girardin are potentially available if you stop at a few shops in a metropolitan area. Depending on where and timing, Tilquin might be, but I'd weary of over-pricing if a shop has many parked on it's shelf.

Is there an online community for all folks who have a physics hobby?

There is for beer. We are on it now.

Or did I misunderstand the point you are making?

I am really suprised at the lack of love for DeCam, the 2002 was out of this world.

I thought Allagash Coolship Resurgam was excellent. May not be something you can easily get your hands on, though. I think all the obvious choices (Tilquin, 3F) have been mentioned.

3 F Armand’4 Lente is the best one I have had so far.

Fond Gueuze Bierpallieters is a spectacular one as well that rarely gets mentioned.
Also incredible: Hanssens, Zomer, Winter, Blauw, 3F Vintage (03, 05 were out of this world, 08 recently came into his right).plus 50N4E, the old batch with enough age on it (recent batch is still to young)

Resurgam, Rueuze, Eylenbosch Gestival, good bottles of Girardin Black, certain bottles of Doesjel, regular 3F, older bottles of Cantillon & Spontanriesling were wonderful as well.

Never been the biggest fan of Tilquin one, I think that the draft version is better than the bottled one. Belle-Vue Sélection Lambic is interesting but more hype than anything else. Lindemans Gueuze Cuvée René is not a bad beer but doesn’t hold a candle to the others, Boon Marriage Parfait is in a similar price range & beat it hands down.

Chapeau Cuvée is the worst non-sweatened one. Old De Troch lambiek (like 3 years) is wonderful stuff but the fresh one is vile, you taste that stuff there.

    I love a good geuze.

My favorite is Girardin Black Label but Indiana barely even gets it anymore :slight_frown:

I'm not really thrilled by Cantillon's or 3F's everyday OG.

I get the feeling cantillon is very similar to pliny in that it's hyped to hell and back, so unless you live near the brewery itself or are in its EXTREMELY limited distribution area, then it's something you're going to have to luck into, trade for, or get price gouged and just order it from a website.

and the unfortunate thing about pliny is that while it's good, It's certainly not earth shattering, and, frankly, there are several California breweries (and others) that do an extremely accessible and equally good, if not superior ipa/dipa.

so what does this mean? if you hunt for something that 90% of the people that have had it rave about, it's going to feel sort of shitty to admit to yourself that it's NOT that great and you sort of wasted your time.

then again, I've never had cantillon, so what do I know?
