It's just what I was told from one of the event organizers. Judging from all of the no growlers rules in the tap room and local accounts around here complaining about a lot smaller allotment of kegs and no more Psuedo, it doesn't seem too far off. Seems like they're really ramping up the bottling side of things and don't have enough for product promotion in this area.

I'd imagine they are going to do some kind of bottle release. Why else would they wax it. If they were just planning on pouring it at fests or at the brewery it wouldn't make sense to wax it.

You know it doesn't take much to wax a bottle right?

Yeah, but if you were popping bottles at a bar or fest why would anyone want to have to cut into the wax every time. I imagine that we all have opened a waxed bottle. I know I wouldn't want to do it. Not to mention added cost for no reason.

I've heard other reasons on why they probably wouldn't come as far back as 4-5 months ago. Its a good thing they make delicious beer.

Did anyone else notice the MD in the bottom right with the silver wax? Just a mix up on the wax job?

You have a sharp eye! It was done on purpose. Thanks for noticing.

What does it matter? I think the Iowa market is plenty hooked on the product, more than enough to make supply scarce and demand extremely high. Why come to festivals to promote a product you can't produce enough of? I'm sure once TG gets to a certain capacity they will do some fan service.

Any particular reason, or just for fun?

TG obviously has a huge following...however, craft beer in Iowa is relatively small. Why not pick up a few new fans. Heck, bring a keg of Dorothy's and GNug. Something for everyone.

Thanks OP.....hope this helps answer your question, and the many more that have followed.

Many months ago, before we committed to any 2014 events, one of our best accounts talked to us about doing a stout event with them. They do it every year, they buy the beer, it's in a cave and we where lucky to get invited.

At the same time, Mike had been working on many small projects and as the stout tasting neared a lucky thing happened and we realized his VB Assassin would be ready just in time for this. This tasting was limited to 50 people so we knew with our very limited amount of beer, it would be nice to get some opinions from our customers on the good or bad of our efforts.

This is a 2013 version that will not be released. However, as soon as we grow a little more it will be another one to cherish as we continue to be a small batch brewery with exciting goals to please your taste. Our ultimate goal is to have one stout release a year and get you as many different takes on it as Mike can conjure up!

We are continuing to grow with out changing our commitment to our beers. We will continue to spread the beer around, and those of you that know us remember to go back a few years when we only had a handful of taps here and there. We ran out of beer all the time!

We will commit about 15% more beer to all our existing tap lines this year, not less (we are not taking any more accounts however and haven't for awhile) and are going to try and bottle roughly the same amount of barrels. This goal basically has us doubling production for 2014. We still can not seem to catch up with your devoted consumption for the life of us, and we are thankful!

We get invited to so many events that we have narrowed down what we expect from our team. Usually the events are on Saturday, so we first have to be free from brewing chores (we work many Saturdays). Second, we have to get paid for the beer (we donate the time, gas, labor, and lodging cost) unless it is an event for charity then we will donate. In fact at Beer Between the Bluffs, we donated all of our pay from the beer to the Children's Miracle Network. Finally, we take customers events first, when schedule permits.

Hope this plan works for us and you, and I hope I get to share some great rare treats with all of you someday.

    Cheers!

    Clark

    Truth.

    A few other things:

While we are tapping some beers this weekend, what those kegs are is one keg of each X-Hops. We filled one keg of each batch, the rest went to bottles. We wanted anyone who might have missed out to be able to head up and try them all at once. If everything the rest of the week goes well, bottles will be there by Friday evening and kegs will be tapped earlier on Friday. If there's any delays that happen, bottling will happen on Saturday. [We will make it clear online if the delay will happen, the kegs will be on tap Friday.]

Why wax the VB bottles? Simply - for fun (same answer for the silver wax on the MD bottle). We wanted to try it out and see how it performed and looked. No harm in that.

The event that we served the VBA at, was both a bottle and draft account for us and most of the beer was purchased, cellared, and provided by them. We obviously did haul up the VB Assassin, but don't worry, Iowa is not being left out. It's coming.

Anyone attending this year's Brrrfest will undoubtedly have a great time. There will be plenty of great beers being poured that I personally wish I wasn't going to miss out on. Every Iowa event I attend, I have to bug Joe from Peace Tree for more Templeton Red. For anyone considering a trip to Decorah in the future, I promise we're fun people to have beer with.

    -Mike
