Seriously, If your not looking for a specific one, why are you bothering going after the "Vintage"? All the Vintage is, is regular batches of OG that Armand thought had a better flavor profile, so he bottled them and threw Vintage labels on them.
I would get the '07 with a regular cork if you trade for one. The older ones are pretty tough to pull and the '07 is better than the '08 IMO.
Thanks for the tip, Mike. Have you done a side-by-side with a regular OG? Any differences appreciable past normal batch variation?
Not on the same years (i.e. a regular 2007 OG vs. a 2007 OGV) but have had a 2009? OG vs. a 2007 OGV and the OGV was noticeably better IMO. Does that mean you will feel the same way? Not sure, but I preferred it. I generally like 3F better than any other beer though, so I like anything from them. If I was trading for something new I would rather have a Zomer than pretty much anything else from any brewery FWIW.
Well we may have similar taste buds, then... I was the only person in our tasting group who preferred Zomer to Lente. Thanks for the info!
Color me Zomer as well... If you can get your hands on an 02 or 03 OGV do it. We openned and 03 side by side with an 08 and there was no comparison. Agree with Mike as well that 07 is better than 08. Avoid the synthetic cork as well.
The 02 is on par with Mimosa in terms of obtaining. Probably rarer since Mimosa will be made again and reverse time travel is impossible.
