I think that may be just a matter of semantics and perspective, though, and if you are used to a beer being very hoppy and it loses its edge and now tastes way more malty, you may then describe it as "predominantly malty".

Besides Buddy's, has anyone seen it around Pittsburgh?

Yup, cases and kegs landed today in the Philly market. I have a case iced up as we speak (in the bed of my truck) waiting for me to get home.

What's this about about cases Keith? I thought you always went with a keg or at least a sixtel to keep around the homestead. :-)

I got a six pack...bottled 12/23. It was good...but as others have mentioned...something not just same as previous batches. Really want to try this real fresh...so I hope to grab some from an upcoming batch.

    12/23 isn't fresh enough?

What states is nugget nectar distributed to? Is it hard to get say in a week or so? Heading down to FL from MN.

I got a case that was bottled at 3:00 PM today. It's pretty delicious imo, though I am sure the hops dropped of quite a bit during the 2 hour drive home.

*This post is nothing more than an overt brag.

Nugget Nectar tastes amazing this year. The hops are on point, but my favorite taste is of light malts that impart balance that actually make this beer a work of art.

This year I'm doing both John! I don't have an open tap right now as I was expecting kegs to land a few weeks after the bottles did (like last year) so I'm not quite ready to put it on tap yet. Also, I plan to take a bunch of bottles to a Super Bowl party I'm going to next Sunday, so in essence I''ll have it both ways.

PS. I saw the kegs yesterday, they are dated 12/6 :grimacing:, what's up with that? 2 months old already? Come on Troegs, if you bottle and keg them that early, then sell them that early damn it.

Had three bottles last night from the 12/23 batch. Delicious. I get a case (or two) every year and thoroughly enjoyed this year's offering.

This response should be the first reply to any thread that states a beer is different from year to year.

Let me say first I'm not a seasonal beer scrutinizer. This batch of 12/23/13 nugget nectar is no where near what the beer should be. There's no hop aroma and little hop flavor. It's all malt, slightly syrupy, and caramely. This beer should not taste like this at 1 month old. I'll give the next batch a try and have it on tap though

9 day old nugget nectar. Not a very good beer let alone good for nugget nectar. I think I'm done with this beer. The batch variation drives me crazy.

Haha! This years is great. If you don't like it, it isn't because of batch variation.

I've yet to experience this batch variation everyone speaks of, maybe I'm just lucky.
