Cook with it. Braise some short ribs, make chili, stout brownies, put it in beef stew, marinade, etc.

Seriously, it's not hazmat. There is no wrong answer.

Drink all those beers on a friday night. Get new beer saturday. By the way, none of those beers sounds old enough not to drink.

If its good beer, I try to keep it for a while and give to friends to try it out. Or if I'm just in the mood for one I'll drink it to get rid of it.

If its a beer I absolutely hated, I take it to the nearest college party and stick it in the fridge. Somebody will drink it. Every time.

I just try to mix six and then I'm not committed to one beer. The only beer I've ever bought a six of without trying first was Sucks. And, I don't regret that decision!

Buy Sucks while you can. It doesn't hang around for very long.

I give it away or use it for beer cocktails occasionally.

Makes a good braising liquid too.

I tend to drink what I buy but on those rare occasions I don't, upon my morning walk to the bus stop I'll leave those bottles in a neatly folded paper bag at a particular spot where some local street persons congregate. When I walk past in the other direction at the end of the day, those beers have invariably been taken care of.

While I get your point about not being beholden to/obsessed with the ratings, I don't think it's bad to use them as a guide either. So say someone's never had a stout, and they go into the store, and see 6 different stouts sitting on the shelf, all with similar ABVs, and all from breweries they know but aren't familiar with. Why take a shot in the dark, when you can narrow your search based on how they are rated? And then if you like or don't like it, you can move on from there and try some of the other ones. I think that's smart.

Having a grear beer store with 1200+ beers for sale in singles about 1 mile away helps. I rarely buy a six pack of something I've never tried. I usually buy a mixed sic pack to try new stuff. I just keep track and what like and don't like. However, there are generally only a a few different beers I consistently buy in 6 packs. I usually have the "standards" on hand at all time and buy a mixed six pack to compliment.

    >What do you do with beer you don't like?
I dump it or give it away.
    >Do you drink it anyway?
    No
    >Do you try and give it away?
Sometimes. This goes more for homebrew; boss loves it.
    >Do you keep buying more?
...buy more beer I don't like? - hell no. *edit* - obviously the exception is when I have reason to believe there's an issue with a certain batch.
    >Do you feel bad about letting it get old?

Perhaps if I drank more stouts and IPA's I would check the rankings. Typically, I am looking for styles that are represented by only a few breweries. It's not like I am walking in and finding 17 different Altbiers or Kolsch to choose from.

It sounds like you are buying too much beer and suffer from beer ADHD.

When I first got into craft beer I drank it no matter how much I disliked it. I finally realized it wasn't worth it, and now I have no qualms about just drain pouring/throwing bottles out (before trying to give it away). I'm dealing with this dilemma currently as I purchased some Hopsecutioner without checking date (not sure if there is a date, but...) and it tasted stale. Been in my fridge for another two months or so and trying to wait until someone comes over and wants it. That's what I get for buying an IPA from a supermarket :stuck_out_tongue:

You can send me that 2 month old Heady Topper.
I've never had it & don't care that it isn't 1 week old.

    I'm not kidding.
