I agree. Mine had no smell and was nothing great. Blind pig had more to it and I would not buy that again. I would try elder again to see if it was me and not the beer. I remember thinking that all these folks at the bar are saying amazing shit about elder and I did not even finish mine. Younger on the other hand was amazing . Supplication really was one of my favorite beers ever. All had the same day at a very legit bar in Philly.

    Enjoy

I was very recently let down a bit by Imperial Stout Trooper. I didn't find it horrible, but I felt like I was supposed to like it more. One of those reality checks again...

while not a huge disapointment, I too was a little less enthralled with it than I hoped. that being said, I got Central Waters Illumination the same day, which is easily one of the best Imperial IPA's that I have tasted.

Some are average, Jade is good very solid IPA, Baby Jade a good IPA at a low ABV, their Bourbon aged Porter is really good stuff as is the BBA Brown. The BBA stuff IMO are outstanding. I don't like Hoppyum, Seeing Double is also pretty good, but the ABV is too high to sit and have a few without a DD, not close to world class but still good.

KBS. Not that it wasn't good, but thought I'd be blown away like I was with CBS.

Biggest let down by far was Darklord 11. I took a couple sips and drainpoured the rest. It was like sugar infused rubbing alcohol.

Moderate expectation but, a very big disappointment: Sly Fox 113 India Pale Ale. I paced between this, Torpedo, and Loose Cannon at the distributor (cases only in PA). I'm having buyers remorse for dinner. No doubt, it's bitter, not a citrus (prefer this) or piney kind of bitter, just bitter. The faults soley mine ... try a sixer at most before diving into the deep end of the pool. The bottom of the deep end is what I've got. 22 more cans before I break the surface and then it's on to better things.

DFH 120 minute for me. It was insanely sweet I thought. Probably should have let it age a while..I don't know it just wasn't doing it for me.

Oh yeah noble pils was pretty good. I guess I just get excited when they constantly come out with new beers and 95% of the time they are just "meh". Personal opinion.

PtE & CBS. Both are fine brews, but neither would make my top 100.

SN Bigfoot - sure it may be fine for aging, but not my cup of tea fresh or with a year on it. Have absolutely no clue what the hype is about.....

If it's any consolation, that beer is really a hybrid hop-wise but heavily leans English IPA in the aroma department, and that's how I'd classify it if forced to choose. The next time you have it try seeing it from that point of view; don't expect a west coast citrus/pine/tropical hop bomb, but try to pick out the earthy/floral contributions of the East Kent Goldings hops. You never know, it might just grow on you.
