For a much-hyped and anticipated hoppy beer--one that I would assume would fly off the shelves as soon as it hits--why are there so many cases only now hitting the shelves that are 1 or 2 months old? Is it just because this perishable product had to travel 2,900 miles across the country, or is there more to the story?

idk but like 3 weeks ago people in Lancaster were bragging how they had 300 cases of sucks(in an area where that amount can not sell) You do the math.

It's because Origlio has been getting shipments of sucks since the beginning of december or so, but held onto it until this past Tuesday, when they finally received their full allotment. They were, understandably, trying to avoid allocating sucks to some of their accounts in december, while denying other accounts until the following month.

Of course, I would have preferred that they had done just that, instead of simultaneously releasing decently fresh beer to some places and their warehouse-aged stock to others. Use the wait-and-see approach with a sour, stout, or barleywine - not with an IPA.

I haven't seen any this year but also don't plan on buying any this time around. Limbo is muy bueno.

35something in my house. A whole case that I was glad to purchase with hard earned beer allowance over the Nugget Nectar. 42.99 + tax. The verdict oft #1 beer of 2011 is that the aura has passed. What was sit up and take notice in 2011 waned a bit in 2012 and now well 2013 released in 2014 says something the bright snowy forest pine edge is gone still smooth ad hell but flabby no long finish there memorable sips. A disappointment for sure. Enjoying my perpetual cans way more. The marketing here has been way mis-played. A step down to straight 4 for 2014.

I was a huge fan of Sucks when I first tired in in 2012...but in where SEPA you can find much fresher local DIPA's there is no need to spend your money on old Sucks.

That being said....I already miss Pennsylvanian beer.

Yep, they renovated the whole store a few months ago, I'm assuming to better compete with the new Wegmans that opened in November. It's not as good as Wegmans or Whole Foods but they have a decent selection. For some reason they always have 21st Amendment sixers for $7.50. Seriously.

Yeah when I read your post that was my first thought as well, that they are going to try to compete with Wegmans. I'd actually take Giant's stores/groceries over Wegmans' any day, but their beer selection is definitely good. Wegmans' pricing is occasionally odd, though, and I've seen the same beer fluctuate up and down a few dollars for no apparent reason at all (and common beers too, not seasonals or hard to find ones, which in that case I could understand).

Thanks for the info, I am definitely going to check it out one of these days! Now if only our state could take the final plunge and be like other states and allow beer in grocery stores with none of the strange conditions.

Now that I'm almost through my case of Sucks batch 327, I'm not pleased with the beer. Sure it was good, but average compared to what I had for the last few years. I assume this is a freshness issue. I've written Lagunitas. We'll see if they respond.

Going forward. Hard to beat days old Dirt Wolf.
