Buddy, I don't know exactly what you're implying, but this is coming from a fan of nugget nectar for somewhere around ten years, who has bought two or more cases at a time in the past. I'm not stomping on a thread full of praise just for sport. It dismays me to say such things. But the beer I walked away with was not good. The person I shared it with agreed. My goal is not to dissuade anyone from purchasing this beer. It's simply an opinion from a long time fan who was (for whatever reason) had a change of heart.

Sadly I have to agree. I am not a Nugget Nectar "hater'' in any way! In the past this have been one of my favorite beers- I would buy cases of it. This years batch just isn't the same.... Its lacking the hop aroma and hop flavor I remember from previous years. Very bummed to say the least. I'm hoping the next batch is better.

My case was brewed on 12/30 and tastes as good as it ever did and I've been drinking it for the last seven years.

I had another on a blank palate and it tasted better. It tasted like an older nugget nectar, not like month should though. Ready for a new batch

I had my first of the year last night, bottled on 1/2/14. Tasted as good as ever. Over the last couple years I've noticed that it doesn't taste as hoppy as I once thought it was. There's a sweetness to it that balances the hops so well, giving it a tangerine flavor without being bitter. And I think that's the whole point with this beer, it's not meant to be a drying DIPA and shouldn't be thought of as such. It reminds me of CCB Tocabaga, hoppy but with a caramel/citrus sweetness. I, for one, am just happy it's in my fridge again.

Been drinking NN every year since Troegs started brewing it. Has been my favorite beer for years, excluding the last two years I have had off batches, lasts years was a mess. Just picked up a case freshest by 5/14/2014 stamped on box. Bottle from what I can tell looks like bottled on 1/14/14, it's tasting great. I thrilled that it's back to what I remember, clean bright, silky malts coat your tongue with a pungent earthy juicy finish. Perfect balance, something that many younger or newer craft drinkers may not appreciate or desire. NN never was or will be a hop bomb but your burps will taste great for hours after drinking one, ha.

NJ doesn't get NN until mid-February. Save yourself the time.

Opened a NN after my Sucks Sucked. It was from November. The NN is pretty darn fresh. It was good but again not what I was remembering from years past. Little smell , caramel malty and no real juicy hops at all. Its still very drinkable but again not what it has been. For over $40 I am disappointed. Last year all the cases I bought were great. Maybe my taste is changing , who knows.

    Enjoy

I think Whole Foods Wexford has theirs now too. I'll confirm this when I stop by there tomorrow to get my Hopslam.

I was planning on hitting Troegs tomorrow to buy a case of Nugget like I do almost every year. However, in my travels today I stumbled upon a place that had it on tap. Im gonna have to echo what others have said. What a sad let down. Id love to sample some of these bottles that people are saying are great... maybe batch variation really is that bad? However, what I had tonight on tap was nothing like the nugget I know and love. Nugget has always been a spoiler that reaches outside the realm of red ale into IPA hoppiness and I guess shame on me, that is what I have come to expect. What I drank tonight was a very forgettable red ale with more malt than hops. Nearly no aroma to it at all. In a way im glad I only spent $6 on a draft, had I purchased an entire case of that id be pissed.

    Sucks to be you man.

NN has the exact same profile that I remember.

There is an old quote that said the wisest man in town is the one that realizes his own shortcomings and or lack their of is knowledge.

The first time I drank NN it drank like a godly IPA, then I drank a bunch of Hills Harmstead.

Today I drink NN and it is the same as before.god bless your pallet.

I dont follow your train of thought for your reply. Congrats that you enjoy it? Good job that you try other beer but still like/appreciate nugget for what it is? Im just expressing an opinion that jives with thoughts and opinions that other people are making/claiming here.

I also dont know what hill farmstead has to do with this. Im strictly talking about nugget nectar. Anyone who wants to stand by and compare nugget to a DIPA is ignorant and thats not the case here. I strongly felt that I would try NN this year and laugh at the people saying "its not as good as prior years" but sadly they have a point. The beer I had on tap tonight was a serious letdown and im not the only one who feels that way.

He's saying you are wrong about what you taste, ignore him. I used to love NN every year, but last year it was horrible, bitter aspirin taste, no hop flavor at all. Then BA says to me my tastes have changed, that's funny because my fridge still has Sierra Nevada Celebratioin year after year, I still can enjoy the Sam Adams offerings. Why is this change of taste ONLY effecting my enjoyment of NN. I suspect it's not. The internet is not going to convince me that the beer I had last year is the same as in years past, the good years. I'll try to buy a single this year and see how it tastes. And I'm not here to tell people that love the beer still they are wrong, maybe I got burned with a off batch last year.

I still haven't had a bad NN this year. I see a lot of people complaining, so maybe I've just been lucky. Either way, I'm enjoying it as much as I always have.
