You're going to just miss the Younger release at RR, and SF Beer Week, so it will be gone by RSA. There should be Elder and Blind Pig within walking distance of the show though

the amount of times I've been to pizza port as a kid when I lived in carlsbad..and my parents had to move us to freaking idaho where you can barely get a bottle of enjoy by.

I'm going to be in Santa Rosa visiting family during this time. I was hoping to go to the pub to enjoy some elder and some of the sorus I hear so many good things about. Are the 8 hour lines just to get in the place or are there lines just to get the younger?

 

So here is the deal .. i have always heard about this beer but have never had it since I live in Tx and we dont get it .. I have about had it up to here with this ! In april im taking a driving trip from San Diego to San Fransisco and I want to grab a 6er to take home with me and share with other hop heads .. Is this something that is easy to get at local bottle shops around california or is it some wait in line bullshit ? I want to grab some but I dont have time to search around and waste half a day looking for it .. Thanks !

 

Draft only, no growler fills. So you'd have to physically go somewhere. And there won't be any available in April. There are occasional places that might hold onto a keg for a bit before tapping, but by and large only in mid/late February.

 

Honestly, if you are going to be in the SF area, I would just go to the brewery. That way you don't have to compete with all the locals trying to get their allocation of Pliny at bottle shops. Most places have a 2 bottle limit as well....if you go to the brewery you can grab 6. Just my opinion. Enjoy the trip!

Last year on a Tuesday or Wednesday of the second week the lines weren't nearly that bad. This talk of 8 hrs is usually the weekend or the first few days of its release.

Maybe I misunderstood your earlier post, but don't go expecting to get any PtY in bottles ...

Just fly into San Diego the following weekend/week. There will be five or six bars with PtY on tap, both for ticketed events and straight up pours. Some lines, but nothing like at RR.

 

It's all about getting to know your bartenders, being a regular, and enjoying good beer. If you do that long enough (and you live in San Diego) you'll get the drop on PtY.

A few years ago Hamilton's found a mis-marked keg in August. Turned out to be a PtY that wasn't tapped in Feb. They tapped it and it was awesome. You never know...
