despite my constant bickering with many active posters (whom i consider to be great virtual friends - only real friends can rib each other)...i've made SO many friends from this site. i have friends all across the country who have a couch to crash on when in town and who i am more than happy to lend a hand with a beer, and those relationships definitely have proven themselves to be 2-way...

...but even more importantly, this site has helped me meet many LOCAL buddies who i get together with on a regular basis to share beers and laughs. just got home from hanging out with a bunch of locals during a mid-week tasting...

i hold my local BA friends in the same esteem as i hold college roommates and life long friends. i have great laughs and memorable nights when hanging out with just 1 other BA or the full crew (and consider these guys and gals to be people that i'd take a bullet for...or trade my last rare for). i look forward to making even more friends through this wonderful site (there is an NYC tasting planned for the end of May and can't wait to put some faces behind the names). 97% of all BAs are good people, including those who challenge you and point out your inability to make sense on this message board.

to me, the most important reason to post on this board is to make friends who share a common love. nothing is better than opening someone's long time want with them or getting to share a rare tick over a laugh. this place is better than meetup.com. afterall, where else can you find friends who will sing "chocolate rain, chocolate rain" with you all night long to the tune of prince's purple rain when a reserve society box lands (thanks again mike, hell of a tick!)?

    Epic. Also, meetup.com is swell.

To the OP, I've met a few folks from BA that I have enjoyed spending time with. Have I connected in person beyond beer? A bit, but if we didn't have the beer, we likely would have little in common. Do I feel like I would have a place to stay in other places? Yup. Is my door open? Damn right!

I have met quite a few good acquaintances/friends through beer tastings and going to releases and such. The whole craft beer community seems like a bunch of really chill people regardless of where I go!

Soccer is completely awful so I have no allegiance to Chelsea and I'll just bash your BBQ behind your back if it's no good.

Definitely have met a few great BAs because this site. I found my go to tasting buddy by just making a comment about finding Gandhi Bot in CT. I also have met plenty of other people that I would consider friends at either tastings or events. I would even consider some of my trading partners friends, even though we have never met in person.

I'd buy several people from this site a beer if we were at a bar together.
I'd only post bail for a couple.

    Bah.

OK, well that's good at least.

I'd appreciate if you bash it to my face- given the feedback I've gotten in the past, either I'm a natural pro at 'Q, or everyone's kissing my ass.

Good beer and honest feedback... that's what friends are for.

I also have to say if anyone in the group thinks U2 is a good band I may have to never speak to them again! Worst band ever!
