Just move on. I am sure you will be taken care of in future trades via the generosity of others.

"Bad trader"- no. "good trader"- no.
Believe in beer karma +1 to you, -1 to him. It goes around....

Oh ya, and it takes away from the maximization of a trade's profit, it has nothing to do with the enjoyment of passing around some hard to find beer to be generous.

No one wants to tip the scale the other way on purpose.

Extras are just that; extras. It shouldn't be something you have to agree to or it just becomes part of the larger trade. I look at extras as unsolicited advocacy and a nice surprise for the recipient - usually a chance to highlight some locals and/or hit some additional 'wants' or should be 'wants'. There's nothing better than unpacking a trade and finding a little something hidden in the box. If the trade didn't meet your expectations, I just wouldn't trade with that person again. I'd just move on - it's not worth carrying around the feelings of ill will.

If you both agreed to send extras he owes you beer and I would pursue it, plain and simple.

Count me in the 'dick move' camp, although at this point, I'd consider the matter too much trouble to pursue further. I'd make sure the guy wasn't on my successful/good trades list on my profile, though.

Wait, you mean you enjoy sharing beer???

Personally, I hate tastings. It's a nice gesture to bring an awesome beer to share, if you want to just to be a nice guy, but I don't like how that is expected and if someone brings Bud Light then they are not invited back.

It has the potential to set up a situation where an agreed upon tasting can become hostile when one person brings a whale and the other opens some Natty Ice. Since my first bottle share (before I knew it was common practice), I have opened good beers at every tasting. But I would just assume the practice go away.

Yep. He knew exactly what he was doing. He tried to pull this BS with the hopes that you would go "Oh, they're just extras. No big deal". Douchebags like this are the same people that go to McDonalds and raise hell just so they don't have to pay for their $0.99 chicken sandwich. I would definitely pursue and if he doesn't do it I'd call him out publicly.

He may just be skimping on extras now, but there's a chance he's testing the waters to screw people over for future trades.

It has nothing to do with maximizing profit. Actually, its quite the opposite. I feel bad when someone throws a great extra in, and makes the trade unbalanced in my favor. But the reason I feel bad is because I assume the trader is expecting something great in return. I'm not saying people necessarily include extras just to get something in return, but when you have people listing others as bad traders for not including extras, then that's sure how it seems.

And the issue is we who are relatively new to trading, or just don't have the cellar to throw in equal quality/rarity extras. I always try to throw in a nice, highly ranked local with more wants than gots. But when something throws me something great, I appreciate it, but feel bad I don't have the cellar to match it.

    Hey Brian

If you agreed on sending some extra's on both sides it became part of the trade expansion! Its a DICK MOVE

To me its like saying I will trade you these beers for your beers and then boxes are exchanged and its a bottle or too short! Well then he owes you! I had some one do that to me. He picked up some beers for both of us then decided to trade a few of mine. DICK MOVE again!
No longer trading with him either!

Could we start a DICK MOVE category? So we know who not to trade with anymore?? And help the community! Really burnt out of these threads more just keep coming every day!

You should not feel bad. There is not one solid trader on this site that throws in AMAZING extras with ANY expectation of equivalent return. It is to get you excited, and to share some awesome beer with you (and in some cases - you know who you are - to clean out their cellar some to add MORE amazing beers)!! So just let them know how much you appreciate it, pay it forward whenever you can, and ENJOY THE HELL OUT OF THAT EXTRA!

    THIS.

100% accurate. When it comes to extras, the common practice is "What STYLES do you like for extras?" or "What STYLE should I avoid for extras?" You never talk specific beers. Specific beer talk becomes part of the trade. Usually it starts with "Do you want to EXPAND." Then you start talking specific beers.

As a failry regular trader, I would like to know the names of the people involved in all these trades...whether 'bad trader' or 'dick move'...bottom line...I don't want to trade with these type of people. I've read so many of these threads lately...and have yet to see a NAME! It is up to the community at-large to weed these people out quickly and eliminate them.

Call him out, send him this thread, and let him either correct the situation or disappear. Until people call these dicks out...they will continue.

Its not about trying to keep up or equal the extras. Extras are just extra! I will speak out for myself and some people that we just want to share the beer! You shouldn't feel bad or oh hope he liked the extras I sent because its all about trying the beers!
I will take the little unknown beers that are solid great tasting any time!

I have had some great little locals I would of never of found out about if it weren't for someone sharing there local everyday beer! That's true advocacy. I have been known to throw in a few extras here and there! Lol
Its not hard for me to get carried away sometimes but I just want to share the beer! :-) hell I've even thrown a extra box of of beers as extras to some traders new and seasoned ones. If its some breweries they've wanted to try I'll send em a sampler box of it!

As soon as he was seen trading again he should be named. You obviously have given him enough reminders and time to make the situation right. He has chosen not to. No reason to let this continue and happen to others. If he is going to flake on something this small it could get a lot worse. If I was you I would put his name out there and forget about the beers he owes you. You can at least know that you probably saved someone else from getting ripped off down the road.

Really it's probably not worth it for you to pursue it, but agreed with all the dick move comments. At the point he brought it up it essentially become "locals" added on to your base trade.

OK - time to add to the Bad Trader list - I did put him on my Information as a 'Caution Trader', but now that I saw him put another trade request out there, I BM'd him today and said the following:

"Dude - what are you doing trading when you still owe me some beers?
    Brian"

    His reply tonight:

"I don't owe you anything. You sent me a couple decent extras and I didn't send you any whereas I did send someone who didn't send me anything. I'm certainly not going to send you shit now after all the harassing and deserving behavior"

Not sure that I've really harrassed him, seeing as this was only the second time I've asked where the extras are that we agreed upon. I agree that I was a little more straight-forward and blunt to him today, but only because it's a little irritating to see this guy out there and trading.

"I don't have the finances to send you something right now" was his reply to my first BM to him in April, by the way.

Anyway, whoever is in charge of the Bad Trader list, please add claytong to that list.

If we could still reply in the ISO:FT forum you could warn someone who may not see this thread about your experience if they decide to trade with him in case life happens again.

BTW no matter what you did he would not have sent anything.

would like a BM with a link with the bad trader list.

i also liked the posts where BA's, say, corrected/educated an OP who posted about BCS (maliciously or not) variants/vintages being aged in PVW barrels. Or when BA's were courteous and linked a fellow OP trader to another trader's ISO so that they could match up (nowkiss.jpg).

i just joined in 2012, what do i know. (besides that my big johns are whales. so send your ann's this way)

Agreeing to not send extras - fine

Agreeing to send extras - flag

Overall is just walk away from this situation and move on.
