I will be driving from LaGuardia Airport to Mt. Sinai sometime this weekend, and was wondering if there were any recommended beer stores in the area to visit?

I actually live in NYC, but I was curious if Long Island beer stores offered anything I couldn't find in the city.

    Thanks!

Should have mostly everything that you could find in the city, their might be some King Henry floating around in some of the smaller stores (a friend just found 6 bottles in a little shop in north Nassau

Long Island doesn't offer anything that NYC doesn't, but often Long Island gets shipments earlie rthan NYC, sometimes weeks ahead, depending on the distributor.

in Huntington you should stop Big Z. Very knowledgable staff, with a carefully selected stock. Prices are somewhat steep.
in Glen Cove you should stop at Glen Cove Beer distributor
in West Hempstead you should stop at West Hempstead Beverage

I shop at Beverage Barn in Garden City Park - but it's more about my relationship with the guys there. Decent selection.

If you will be on the south side of LI, A&R in Seaford has a great selection of bottles and 20+ taps. Plus they have a decent selection in their coolers. The only thing to keep an eye on there is "bottle dust". Some of the rare stuff does not move as often as you would like and you could end up with a bottle that is not as fresh as you would like it to be. Good luck

A stop at the Whole Foods in Lake Grove would be worthwhile as well. Don't know your planned route to Mount Sinai,
but assuming you're going to be taking the LIE and Route 347, you'll be passing right by it.

Does Lake Grove have a better selection then Jericho?

Im pretty shore he wiped out that small store, but alot of these smaller stores (hidden gems) are not on the radar for most people. So I would search out some of those stores.

it was me and I did nab all 6. it was a random store that I stopped in since I missed nugget nectar at the usual spots so took a chance with a non craft beer store thinking that troegs might get there. BAM! king henry sitting on the counter when I walked in. really wasnt looking to drop that kind of coin, but how do you walk away from that? at least it wasn't bottles of rare, my wife would not have understood the NEED to buy all 6 bottles. this store was hardly a hidden gem, but more of a lucky one time find.

not really a spot to blow up. i didn't leave any behind and i'd be shocked if they ever get anything like that again. pretty sure it was a mistake that they got any.

South Shore Hit Bellport Beer, ask for Dave
North Shore Hit Port Jeff Bev, ask for Bruce
Great Spots with awesome beer guys.
Bellport has the better selection, but both are worth a stop.

I was recently at Beverage Depot in Franklin Square, Nassau county. Its nothing special. BUT if you are interested in trying an aged/old Lagunitas Cruising With Ruben and the Jets, they have it. Or at least they did last week. I have yet to try it.

IPAs there are always old. I would avoid this place.
