I have a buddy coming back down to Kentucky to cash a Derby ticket and offered to swing by Binnys to snag me a few beers. I know the usuals of what Binny's caries, but anyone been there over the past few days and can give me a few ideas of any new beers they have or any new Chicago releases to look for? I know Pipeworks has been releasing beers but they've been hard to come by from what I've read. Thanks!
Do you know which Binny's in particular he'll be hitting? That would be very helpful, as they can have very different selections/availability at times. Also, I think Pipeworks is only available at one or two Binny's in the city (someone I'm sure will correct me here).
He lives in Old Town, so the closest one to there. I've been there once, I think it's close to a Lowes.
He will probably be going to the one behind Goose Clybourn....have him grab Zombie Killer, Tart Lychee, aaaaannnndddddddddd I dont know, Central Waters?
Pipeworks is available at that Binny's...they had the BA Smoked Porter and Hyper Dog as of yesterday. Also had Juliet and Lolita if that's your thing.
Pipeworks is also available at the Binnys on Grand in River North, right next to old town. I picked up a couple bottles of the Smoked Porter yesterday. Batch 1! That Binny's has a pretty decent selection. Saw 1 6 pack of ZD left on the shelf. They also had bottles of Flossmoor (local south side brewpub) and Half Acre's 1/15, 2/15, and 3/15 rereleases. The just sold out of Baume. And right now all Binny's are having a sale on Midwest brews (a few exclusions, like FFF).
You could always have him pick up some growlers from Goose Island for you as well. Right now they have cocoa leche on tap ($16/growler) and my friend said it is quite tasty. I'm hoping to try it this weekend
